The Republicans Are Officially DEAD To Me I Am Registering Independent Tomorrow
OV

Posted on 01/01/2013 10:01:47 PM PST by OneVike

Ever since the election I have been sitting back to watch what happens during the lame duck session of Congress. I have already accepted the sad fact that the Republicans where not going to do anything about all the illegal activity that took place on election day. I even begrudgingly accept the fact that they will never bring up charges of impeachment against Obama. However, for them to be so afraid of him as too give into this farce of a deal is too much for me to accept.

We all agree that America is no longer the country we grew up to love, fight for, and respect. Heck, every January 1st there are hundreds of thousands of new laws on the books that take a little more of our rights away. Sadly, while telling us to keep the faith because they will stand in the breach to keep us free, the Republican party continually does the opposite by making deals with the Democrats. The Republicans have their DNA all over the very laws they tell us they will stand against, and this fiscal cliff deal is just one more example of their many broken promises.

In my 15 years here, I have done my share of debating many fellow FReepers who thought we should abandon the Republican party. My argument has always been on the side that a third party vote, or even a non vote would only help the Democrats. Well this latest broken promise is the last straw for me. No more. From here on out I will argue for and support a third party.

It is time, hell it's way past time for a revolution that will lead to the replacement of the Republican party.

First thing tomorrow I will officially leave the Republican party.

What Party would you join that is of your philosophy of governing?

Why does some one need to be formally affiliated with any political party?

“Happy new year and let us know when you’re ready.”

Sorry, I’m still one of those Pubs you love to hate. And so we will all go down the drain together regardless of Pub or Third Party. However, indeed have as Happy a New Year as possible. Hope springs eternal.

The GOP has just begun to fight. They have a strategy:

“We’re going to get blamed and about two weeks into this, we’ll fold like a cheap suit.” - Lindsey Graham

Well, you could always be an anarchist.

That’s good to know. But I’ve read on the “international living” type websites that your SS is taxable in South America. I’ll do some more checking.

“Democrats control the presidency, the media, the Senate, have a large number in the House and somehow you only blame Republicans. classic”

And now with the turncoat Supreme Court Judge Roberts, they control the SCOTUS also.

Funny you mention that. Yes I do listen to Levin and have been noticing what he is saying about the answers not lying in Washington. That being said, I don't know for sure what he is getting at but I really hope he is thinking along the same lines.

I have been advocating an Article 5 convention for some time so I really hope that's what he is thinking but I have my doubts. My guess is he is thinking we need to start at the local level and finally work our way back to conservative government. I don't agree with this strategy at all. It's my belief we simply don't have enough time. We must act now while we have upwards of 30 or so red states and probably 8 to 10 more that can be won with an organized effort.

We must amend the constitution now!

One thing for sure is that Levin and I agree spending any significant effort trying to reform Washington is a waste of time. It's so far gone it's absolutely hopeless.

The odd thing to me is all the talk of succession and civil war yet almost no mention of an article 5 convention. States amending the constitution is CLEARLY preferable to the breakup of the country or war. The founders added this section of our constitution for this very situation yet few ever even mention it. This tells me that people are just not as familiar with our constitution as they think. Which means we just need to get the word out AND have someone like Levin get on board.

The left has a HUGE weakness. That weakness is that they simply don't have the numbers to win in a fair fight. Level the playing field and we will crush them. An article 5 convention does just that.
