The Republicans Are Officially DEAD To Me I Am Registering Independent Tomorrow
OV

Posted on 01/01/2013 10:01:47 PM PST by OneVike

Ever since the election I have been sitting back to watch what happens during the lame duck session of Congress. I have already accepted the sad fact that the Republicans where not going to do anything about all the illegal activity that took place on election day. I even begrudgingly accept the fact that they will never bring up charges of impeachment against Obama. However, for them to be so afraid of him as too give into this farce of a deal is too much for me to accept.

We all agree that America is no longer the country we grew up to love, fight for, and respect. Heck, every January 1st there are hundreds of thousands of new laws on the books that take a little more of our rights away. Sadly, while telling us to keep the faith because they will stand in the breach to keep us free, the Republican party continually does the opposite by making deals with the Democrats. The Republicans have their DNA all over the very laws they tell us they will stand against, and this fiscal cliff deal is just one more example of their many broken promises.

In my 15 years here, I have done my share of debating many fellow FReepers who thought we should abandon the Republican party. My argument has always been on the side that a third party vote, or even a non vote would only help the Democrats. Well this latest broken promise is the last straw for me. No more. From here on out I will argue for and support a third party.

It is time, hell it's way past time for a revolution that will lead to the replacement of the Republican party.

First thing tomorrow I will officially leave the Republican party.

Where in the constitution does it speak of political ‘parties’?

Where am I required to ‘join’ a ‘party’?

I answered your question - I explained to you the criteria on which I base my vote. I vote for the candidate on the ballot who most closely approximates my values. If a candidate wishes to earn my vote - they must support the things that I believe in.

I turned in my republican registration after Romney was nominated. I voted for Santorum in the primaries.

When the time comes around in 2007, I am sure I will re-register in the republican primary to support the best candidate running, assuming there is someone who believes in what I do.

Until then, I’m an independent.

Yep, that will accomplish a whole lot. Split the Republican Party up and be in the minority for the next 30 years. Great idea. I’d prefer CWII myself one day.

Explain how maintaining the status quo (sticking with the gop) will bring on a CWII? I bet you don't see the contradiction of your statements, do you?

A quote posted a few days ago at Ann Barnhardt's website...

Twenty-one of 22 incumbent senators were re-elected, and 353 of 373 incumbent members of the House were re-elected. The American people have re-elected 94 percent of the incumbents who were running for re-election to an institution that has an approval rating of about 9 percent. This indicates, as an electorate, we are a nation of idiots. We're now stuck with the useless, dysfunctional government that we deserve.

There you go. MY Reps are okay; it's all the OTHERS that are screwing up. Same line of thought applies to public schools.

I understand your feelings and I may join you as an Independent. Many claim the only way is to stay with the GOP and work for change within. We have tried that for many years and it isn't working. It is insanity to continue.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.- Albert Einstein
Perhaps, if their numbers drop dramatically, Republican leaders will realize they are finished unless they vote their bases wishes instead of voting the wishes of people who will never vote GOP.

The Party is already ripped to tatters. Giving them our support will make us the same as the mindless Dims who support their Party. Until the Repubs understand that we aren't mindless drones who will continue to accept constant betrayals, they will continue to make pretenses at Conservatism while selling us further down the road.

You are 100% correct. The media is the enemy. That is where the war needs to be fought.

When i posted early this year that i have been registered as an independent my entire voting life and that i felt no allegiance to any party i was called a liberal by certain idiots who post here and use the word ‘conservative’ to cloak themselves in even though they haven’t the faintest idea what the word means. Welcome to the land of independents where candidates will actually have to work to earn your trust.

I relocated to Texas. Far happier here than elsewhere.

Same here. We thank God every day that he gave us the courage to make this move. We also thank him for the place he gave us. Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves to remind us it is real. And here is the funny part: We make $40,000 a year less than we used to and are living much better. I finally was able to partly go Galt with not only my expenditures, but my income as well.

In the good way.

I am staying in the GOP just to vote in the primaries. I feel I can do more damage to the establishment NOT voting for the incumbent. Also, i want to vote in the state elections, and keep my state house deep red. I feel if CWII comes we need solid conservative leadership at the state level. I have given up on the Federal(don’t care), the relief from tyranny will come from the state house(s) one day....

The media creates the false reality that we live in.

the media decides to create some bs called ä “fiscal cliff”.

Then that’s what practically all talk about and believe is the real situation, and act like we are going over a cliff when we weren’t.

Your democrasts voted for this bill including your pelosi. cheer them on as your democrats also created the Obamacare ( practially no Republican was fooled that time into voting for that) .Enjoy now reporting all your health care info with the IRS , and socialism your democrats and your media has given you

plus the media controls this country and the media created this “fiscal cliff”. everyone acted like we would go over a cliff but there was never a cliff and no need to vote like this for some stupid bill but all bought the media’s fiscal cliff scare tactics. the media are democrats and actually create reality , create a cliff when there isn’t one. how can you make the accurate choice if you think some false situation exists or doesn’t exist when it does

Good for you. If enough Republicans change their registration to Independent (50%, for instance), then after the pompous asses that lead the party get over congratulating themselves that they finally have rid their precious party of those slimy, disgusting, Constitution quoting conservatives that have held back their party from being able to enjoy the perks and benefits of being the minority since the 80s, they will realize they are the Whigs all over again.

There has never been a larger disappointment in the history of America than the mentally challenged, learning disabled Republican party of today.

Hush you. You’ve clearly forgotten about the massive scorpions. The heat, oh, the heat. Don’t get caught outside without water or you’ll die.

Oh, yes, and the neighbour next door has his guns. Big ones. You can’t go to the grocery store without seeing someone flash a piece.

WHO WILL POPULATE ANY THIRD PARTY?

The sound of a third party sounds good until you grow up and realize that members of both parties are currently pulled from the same selfish and self-centered pool of people the makes up the voting population of this nation....us.

We have seen many times how the lure of power and money transforms a seemingly good candidate into another politician who panders for votes and sells his/her soul for another term in office.

Show me a candidate with principles and I will show you a loser or a one-term proposition.

What will that accomplish?

Nothing.

Winning the House in 2013 and raising taxes on us all should not be your worry...changing governorships to DemonCrat and repeal of the 22nd amendment should be your worry going forward.
