Ever since the election I have been sitting back to watch what happens during the lame duck session of Congress. I have already accepted the sad fact that the Republicans where not going to do anything about all the illegal activity that took place on election day. I even begrudgingly accept the fact that they will never bring up charges of impeachment against Obama. However, for them to be so afraid of him as too give into this farce of a deal is too much for me to accept.
We all agree that America is no longer the country we grew up to love, fight for, and respect. Heck, every January 1st there are hundreds of thousands of new laws on the books that take a little more of our rights away. Sadly, while telling us to keep the faith because they will stand in the breach to keep us free, the Republican party continually does the opposite by making deals with the Democrats. The Republicans have their DNA all over the very laws they tell us they will stand against, and this fiscal cliff deal is just one more example of their many broken promises.
In my 15 years here, I have done my share of debating many fellow FReepers who thought we should abandon the Republican party. My argument has always been on the side that a third party vote, or even a non vote would only help the Democrats. Well this latest broken promise is the last straw for me. No more. From here on out I will argue for and support a third party.
It is time, hell it's way past time for a revolution that will lead to the replacement of the Republican party.
First thing tomorrow I will officially leave the Republican party.
It’s hard to blame you, but I’m sure someone will.
Republicans and Democrats: two different roads to the same place....
Yep, that will accomplish a whole lot. Split the Republican Party up and be in the minority for the next 30 years. Great idea. I’d prefer CWII myself one day. It will undoubtedly come to that. The demographics have changed to the tipping point.
What took so long? I did so in 2007 when Bush and the Republicans were spending like democRATs.
Did the same thing a month ago.
Good for you—you will have your self respect.
The GOP has done nothing to earn our support for the last two years, this last year especially.
They will cave on the debt ceiling fight also.
It is time for a new party that conservatives can support and that will champion our values.
Until we pull the power we have away from them, they will continue taking advantage of us.
I am more afraid of the GOP-E using our vote to give them the power to destroy my way of life and the future of my grandchildren than I am of a third party keeping Democrats in power.
They had every intention of complete surrender last year during the “debt ceiling” debacle but the TEA Party made them pretend otherwise.
This is the real GOPe, they are nothing more than an appendage of the Democrat Party
I could care less what you think moron.
Why don’t you take a long walk on a short catwalk.
The Republican Party is already “split up”, conservatives are not welcomed but keep showing up until they get a new lock.
Republicans did as good as they could, in this environment, where a shameful media enables, empowers and emboldens a Marxist president, and demonizes anyone and anything that tries to stand in his way. The circumstances put the republicans in a no-win situation. The question now is, when the economy folds even more, can the media combine with the Marxist to continue to successfully put the blame on Bush, who basically lost power in Nov., 2006, when the Communists won both the Senate and the House?
Exactly.
They keep using our vote to stay relevant enough to vote against conservatives every time.
Would splitting the republican party and being in the minority for the next 30 years be different in any way than say the GOP controlling all three branches of government?
Would we pass into law 0% of the conservative agenda, or would we pass into law 0% of the conservative agenda?
There are still a lot of conservatives in the Republican party. In case you didn’t notice, most Republican Reps voted against this. It’s time to have a Conservative Speaker. Boehner sucks!!
I would advise against this if you live in a state with closed primaries. Yes, we know the RINOs are in charge of the show — but leaving the party and thus not participating in the primary process in some states only exacerbates this.
Huh?
What do you think you will accomplish with your tantrum?
Grow up, get to work, and help conservatives in the next primary.
who created 99% of this government/tyranny : Democrat congresses did.
Yeah I’m mad for some in the GOP for falling for this “fiscal cliff” bs of the media but put the blame where it belongs on democrats.
Folded up like a cheap suit.
