The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

LOL. Interesting little tidbits about trees.
A picture of a fan that looks like ours. But ours is in much better shape.
I doubt we were smarter than the kids now days so what's the difference today? Maybe it's the gimme attitude of parents now. They don't accept their kids do stupid stuff so manufacturers have to go to extremes so they don't get sued. Back in the day, if you did stick your hand in the fan, your father would have bopped you on the head and gave you what for for being an idiot (and your friends would want to see the severed fingers!) but you'd learn real fast to never do it again and life would go on.
How does one propogate English ivy? Just stick a piece in the ground? I plated 2, one died, the other is going like gangbusters. I’ll be mixing them with clementis they are going over an arch. One of the iveys is up the arch, reaching for the otherside. The second one is nowhere to be found.
Now that’s not something I know anything about. Still I’ probably cut off about 5”, pull off all but about 3 leaves on the lower part. Dip it in rooting powder or solution, and stick it in moist dirt in a pot. Cover the pot with a clear plastic bottle to make a little hot house and see what happens.
Generic replacement power cords for older tabletop appliances can be had if you look around. here is one:

I also remember my appliance repair and parts store had some generic cords for older fryers and griddles, but that was in Mobile and was four years ago.
I like your fan. I have a couple of old table model fans also.
We have unseasonably warm days here in western PA even tho it drops to 28 degrees at night and the ground is frosted at dawn. My kohl plants look remarkably healthy.
72 here in marshall, Tx today
My father took good care of everything he ever bought. I have the original paper manuals for just about everything he left behind. My wife can’t believe it! I think he was very careful of where and how he spent his money. His cars and trucks lasted forever. I have all his tools - old Sears Craftsman stuff and good quality. He would not throw anything out that could be repaired by him or a local repair guy.
I hope you are enjoying your nice weather as much as I have been enjoying our lovely gardening weather.
Thank you greeneyes. I’ll do just that. Gardening is great! I spent some time clearing the acorns in my front raised garden. Man O Man, the drought really put some reproduction in some of the oak trees. I’m going to start some Live Oak trees from these acorns and see if I’m successful. When they get some size, I’ll plant them along the edge of the property and twine their branches while they’re young and bendable. Then I’ll do the same along the driveway and remove the legustrum.
76 over here, just south of Waco. I’m waiting to see if my bulbs are sprouting.
Gardening is great, I agree. Another great thing is cooking and eating the produce. Tonight I picked some stuff from the winter garden and I had a little green onions and carrots to add to some wild and brown rice I had cooked from my pantry stash.
Also a salad made from my lettuce, onions, carrots and tomatoes. All to go with some baked fish.
Now if I could just figure out how to raise some fish in a tank here in the cold of winter....LOL.
