A Reddit post about a man's positive pregnancy test appears to have alerted him to a testicular tumor.
The man, whose name has not been made public, was shocked to see two pink lines after jokingly taking the test, which had been left in his bathroom cabinet by an ex-girlfriend.
The strange scene was drawn out as a comic and submitted to the website Reddit, where it drew more than 1,300 comments in three days from concerned strangers.
"You may have testicular cancer! Get to an oncologist, tell them you took a pregnancy test and it came out positive," one Redditor wrote.
Sure enough, a trip to the doctor revealed a tiny lump in the man's right testicle, according to the Reddit thread.
Pregnancy tests detect beta human chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone in the blood and the urine produced by the developing placenta. Experts say beta hCG can also signal testicular cancer.

Does a Vasectomy Increase Cancer Risk? Watch Video "It turns out a fair number of testicular cancers make the same exact hormone," said Dr. Mark Pomerantz, a genitourinary oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. "There are very few things in the body that produce beta hCG, and testicular cancer is one of them."
The tumor was caught early, according to the Reddit thread. But the man might have to have his right testicle surgically removed.
"The testicle usually has to come out. But we're lucky with this disease, in that the vast majority of cases -- even if they're caught further along -- are still very curable," said Pomerantz.

Must. resist. crass. comment.
I remember a Packer game on TV. They were playing the Cowboys(?) and a Packer coach was hit on the sidelines. He fell over and hit his head. Went to the hospital for x-rays as a precaution and they found a tumor.
Sometimes God gives you a second chance without you realizing your first one was/is in jeopardy.
The article doesn’t say whether it’s a boy or a girl.
LOL
“Went to the hospital for x-rays as a precaution and they found a tumor.”
Very similar to what happened to my ladyfriend! She was in a slight fender-bender, and bumped her head on the side window. I insisted she go to the hospital. Xrays found a very rare type of bone tumor in her skull. The Cleveland Clinic Doc said he’d never seen it before. A harrowing experience for us! She’s fine now, albeit with a piece of plastic in her head.

They always remove the testicle.
I was buying a few items there when I saw it in the rack, and bought one as a gag gift for a female friend(the inside story is irrelevant)
This article hit the news the next day.
A few of my male friends will be receiving one as a “gag gift” for Christmas, along with a copy of the original article.
BTW
Another aspect of this that people really need to think about....
If Deals can sell an EPT for $1.00, why are most other similar EPTs available everywhere at $13-$28.00?
Mine was caught early and after tenth year (of clear tests) was declared “cured”.
21 years and counting :)
Sounds like another cheap way to cheat the death panels.
They blew off PSA testing this year, luckily I found my prostate cancer a few months earlier.
Psa with blood panel three times a year. Clear.
Prostate surgery in July. Biopsy result cancer.
Now doing radiation.
Ask dr how do they check for cancer after radiation. Answer. Psa.
I check out reddit on a semi regular basis and I remember when this happened. Absolutely amazing.
So, marijuana users should take the occasional pregnancy test? Can’t hurt?

Just my opinion but an off brand EPT is probably less scientific or at least that is what I would think. When I used them, I purchased a name brand simply because I wanted the results to be accurate. Maybe that is just marketing...
Or, a really tight rubber band. It’ll just shrivel up and fall off!
