The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Yes I knew that but I also know that you were their first test Pilot so to speak. I miss you on these threads Gal. How is you Mother?
This "bad boy" was spotted in the back yard with two lady friends .... pansy eaters, all of 'em!!
Well that’s a great lookin’ critter. Maybe you should bag one for some venison stew. LOL
We rarely eat beef any more ... it’s all venison so if Big Boy shows up during the daylight hours in the field or the yard, he has a good chance of becoming a roast, stew, chili, tenderloin medallions, venison mincemeat, and BBQ!
Mom’s doing fine (I think). I’m getting good reports from the private nurse we hired to check on her, and her letters seem fine. But, then my meddling sister in law (my husband’s sister) calls my daughter and has nothing but bad news. I can’t talk to her on the phone because her hearing is so bad, but I think she is doing as well in assisted living as can be expected.
Her complex is just lovely, and they wait on her hand and foot and feed her well. Much to my amazement, I find that part of her rent is tax deductible, so that will help. Now I have to figure out what to do with her house and the furniture that she didn’t take to assisted living with her. This is all hard to do “long distance”. And her books. 1000’s of books.
Chris [editor: her son at Texas Tech] forwarded your email to me and I've never been so surprised or touched. I have to run this morning, but rest assured that I will get back to you soon!
Your friend,
_____ (JADB)
It can now officially be a HAPPY Thanksgiving; the Prodigal is found.
BTW, we won a turkey for our dinner from the local newspaper's contest; and I bagged a buck Saturday, so 1 less garden-muncher to feed; the winter wheat finally started sprouting; and after a month, the garlic is putting out roots: all is well in Applegate Ranch land.
Thanks. Now we can call of search and rescue.
Excellent news!
What a relief to hear and certainly to give thanks for during America’s Harvest Festival celebration this week...
Great!
I was truly concerned JADB had come onto hard times...!
Beared Iris blooming?
Show off! You can have those iris on your T’Giving table.
Thank you for making contact. I hope you will let us all know what is up with JADB because we do miss her and miss her entertaining posts.
I’ll keep people updated, but hopefully will coax her to make an appearance herself.

Tee Hee...
Praise be, this is good news all around.
I haven’t had more than 1 or 2 cucumbers for the last 2 summers. They just won’t grow to maturity. The summer of 2010 we had so many, I quit canning them after I got 52 jars processed.
I wish FR had a LIKE button al la Facebook
