1. Not Having Enough Water
2. They put too Much Importance on Their Gear
3. They lack the Knowledge it takes to Really Survive
4. The Rice & Beans Mentality
5. Becoming too dependent on your Guns & Ammo
6. Not Understanding that People will become a Threat During a SHTF Crisis
7. Not having a plan to move away from the house.
Probably Jasper, Alabama.
Anyone buying MREs by the gross is going to die plugged up and miserable. Not very good preps.
In my community, folks come to me for weather questions because they know I'm a ham radio operator. All my neighbors know I can cook for crowds.
How am I supposed to meet my Christian obligation for service by hiding?

“7. Voting Democrat (Yes.., they’re out there.)
8. Voting RINO (I’ve made this mistake.)
9. Ignoring your relationship with God. (Father, grant me
strength.)”
#9 should be #1, IMHO........
Chick-Fil-a please.
That would be very unwise for some ne're do well to say.
Never P.O. the cook. It's dangerous.
Everything in a kitchen is hot, heavy, sharp, or potentially poisonous. ;)
As I said, some folks are problems now, they still will be. Same solutions apply in an emergency as in 'normal life'.

The need for organization, preferably before the SHTF.
The Team is always superior to the individual.
I don't recommend hiding. But there is no obligation-Christian or otherwise-that we must discuss prepping in mixed company. It gives me the creeps to hear fellows down at Bass Pro Shops talking in front of perfect strangers about how many rounds they have stockpiled or what is in their bugout bags. If anyone asks me, I don't own any firearms and I don't have any idea about prepping.
Mmm only the best. Love that spicy chicken sammitch.
Your post reminded me of the e-book “Lights Out”. Regular guy pulls his neighborhood together after the power goes out indefinitely.

Folks don’t realize that true military MREs have very little fibre in them — so the grunt doesn’t have to take a dump at just the wrong time.
My son has come to LOVE meals high in fibre and veggies, as he knows what even a three day FTX can do to your innards.
Ummm. Back when I was married and had kids at home, we'd run through a least 12K rounds a year at the range. Never had an issue with being flagged, even under Clinton.
You do what you are comfortable with. It's important to be able to take care of yourself and your family in a way you think is appropriate.

We have the team ID’d.
We have the rally point set.
We’ve set our innocuous code phrase to share via whatever medium is up when one or more of us pop smoke.
Our core isn’t enough to really make it, but it’s a good core for where we’re going. And the folks already there can fill in the gaps. (and vice versa)
I’ll be addressing that in my Poverty Cooking series chapter 2 that will be posted on the Friday Prepper thread.

If you have a ping list for that, add me, please, if you don’t mind.

Indeed. A family a four simply cannot defend in place, stand watch, get chores done and remain sane. It takes a team/community/ cooperating group of folks. A few leaders, enough followers, and a lot of doers.
Think about it, how would a family of four, or five, or six stand up a competent 7 X 365 X 24 X 360 degree watch?

“Pilots get ‘low residue meals’ before long flights in small cockpits..”
The title to Chapter 3? Looking forward to Chapter 2!
