I was thinking Cliff Simon would make an awesome Thrawn. He’s got that “I’m so powerfull I don’t even have to prove it” vibe down.
(He played Baal in Stargate SG1)
Nuh-uh. Two words: Drake Hogestyn.
WTF!? Holy ****. My head just exploded. Is it April 1st? Who won the election?
I’d remake the prequels first.
I guess that rumored live action tv series isn’t happening.
Lucas is getting 4 billion dollars?
I loved the Zahn books. Most other Star Wars novels seem like crap.
Obviously any post ROTJ movies will find it difficult not to trash the continuity formed by all the novels, not that that would be a bad thing.
IIRC, the last three episodes deal with the founding of the New Jedi Order, the New Republic and the final destruction of the Sith. It's been ~30 years since ROTJ, so I don't think the original cast will be continuing the adventures. Although, I suppose with CGI, they could.
Watch for a politically correct crapfest to be passed off as Episode 7. I'll pass.
Intere$ting why thi$ i$ happening now...
2 and 3 are both worth your time. 3 is actually a very good movie.
I would not want to see the Thrawn trilogy made into films. Sorry folks, that idea just leaves me cold for some reason.
That said, if Ewan McGregor could play young Obi-wan, why not have some new actors play Luke, Leia and Han? Peter Mayhew could probably still play Chewie.
Luke, Han and Leia should all be dead, or maybe Han should be around and very old.
The main protagonist should be a young jedi by the name of Anakin Solo.
Could care less hated the new ones but cant wait to watch the old ones with the kids when they are older.
Life races by and we don’t appreciate how fast until we are looking into the rear-view mirror and realize how much has already passed.
Enjoy the originals with the kiddies!
I’m talking about a movie based on the Thrawn trilogy. In that, the Heroes of Yavin were only a few years older than they were at the end of Episode 6.
But yeah, I’d like to see something that takes place hundreds of years after Episode 6 with everyone we know from the last six movies long dead. If there’s a Skywalker in it at all, he’s a distant descendant of Luke and Mara Jade. I alos think it would be very, very cool if they said “Who says 7-9 have to take place after 1-6” and did a Knights of the Old Republic story arc. Imagine buckets of Sith vs. buckets of Jedi...awesome.
I thought that Lucas and Fox retained the rights to market the original trilogy. Same with Lucas and Paramount vis-avis Indy.
Fox has distribution rights, but not much else. They thought it was going to be a flop and wound up writing a very bad contract as the vast majority of the revenue skips by them completely. I’d guess they still distribution, or Disney will have to make a separate deal.
Since I received a couple hundred shares of Disney stock when they bought out Marvel a few years ago, I guess this means I now own part of the Star Wars franchise. (Just a fraction of a percentage, but it still sounds cool!)
Looks like we have our answer:

Fox still has distribution of the first 6.
bttt
Otherwise ...
Probably not.
