My understanding was that there was some sort of entity that Lucas himself set up that the last three movies could never be made.

IIRC, the last three episodes deal with the founding of the New Jedi Order, the New Republic and the final destruction of the Sith. It's been ~30 years since ROTJ, so I don't think the original cast will be continuing the adventures. Although, I suppose with CGI, they could.

Watch for a politically correct crapfest to be passed off as Episode 7. I'll pass.
