Off-Color Remark Lands Ice Cream Maker In Hot Water By Ben Popken
The CEO of a 100-year old Montana ice cream maker has offered to resign after he made what was perceived to be a racist remark on the company's Facebook wall.
The brouhaha began when a self-identified Muslim customer asked on the Facebook page if the Wilcoxson Ice Cream contained pork in the gelatin used to make it.
We don't deliver outside of Montana, certainly not Pakistan, CEO Matt Shaeffer wrote back.
The customer replied that the comment was rude for assuming he lived in Pakistan. Underneath the customer's name on Facebook it says that he lives in Sheridan, Wyo., an area to which the wholesale ice cream maker does deliver.
Shaeffer told NBC News he is sorry for what happened. It was never intended to offend, he said.

All aircraft, gasoline and flip flops have pork products in them
What part of Wyoming is in Montana??
hmm ~ they don’t?
Admittedly Sheridan is not far from the state line, but it is in another state. My recollection is that you can't even see Montana from Sheridan (although I have only been through there once and I was headed in the other direction). Actually it could be quite dangerous to try to deliver to Sheridan. George Armstrong Custer was just trying to deliver some ice cream from Billings to Sheridan when he was set upon by the Sioux Indians. (Of course that is scrubbed from the books for politically correct reasons in order to make Custer look bad.)
Just having bread on the premises is a problem ~ so what you do is provide a menu ~ then even i’ll go there.
If he looses Muslim business because of his remark, so be it. The same for Jewish customers. Its his remark. Its his Ice cream store.
He can offend anyone he wishes and accept $$ (or not) from whom ever will grace his establishment. Bad business choices will result in lower profits. Left alone this will work itself out nicely.
I dont give a flying #*(&% who is offended by anything that anyone says about or too them. Anyone can (and will) be as offended as they want over whatever reason they want.
There is no protection from being offended.
Montana is pretty big, you know.
Some of their misuses conjur up images of 'day of the triffids' or 'night of the living dead'. Just terrible.
Best to just ignore these pukes who don't know what 'race' really means.
Meanwhile a Pakistani working for the city of Houston cheered online the 9-11-2001 attacks and it was only uncovered when he was investigated for solicited sex services from a co-worker.
It’s not as if Pakistankis and Indians never make bigoted comments about one another. Let alone when the people at the call centers say once the phone line is disconnected.
Can I get some veal?
Mmmm Custer’s Lemon Custard.
He should not resign and to demand that he does is absurd.
BTW, there are a surprising number of people who decline to eat pork products and some of them are Christians who reason that God told Israel not to eat pork in Leviticus chapter 11 for a good reason, even if most people are not at all curious about it.
Their ice cream is available in Sheridan. I’ve had it. It’s good stuff.
Sheridan residents do a lot of business in Montana. If you want to do major shopping, odds are you’ll have to be driving 90+ minutes to Billings.
“My response to a muslim who wanted to know if my ice cream contained pork would be, it does now
Perfect response.
The headline “off color” is from NBC.......so what is off color? I don’t see it. Ultra sensitive savages....kind of like the cave man commercials.
So in a country which claims to have “freedom of speech” you lose your job because someone claims you said something “racist.”
Because it's their business, not yours?
Among natives in the region of northwest WY and southern MT, they remember the movement to break away and form another state called “Absoraka:”

So yes, old-timers in both Sheridan and Billings think of each other as being “local.” Casper, even tho in the same state, isn’t thought of as “local” to Sheridan, but Billings, the same distance up the interstate in the other direction? Local.
As president I will mandate that all foods sold in America must have some pork content even if it is only a trace amount.
Bacon ice cream. The time is now.
