CHARLOTTE, N.C. A planned sand sculpture that was set to go in front of The Ritz-Carlton in uptown Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention is no longer being built, according to the hotel.
In a news release, organizers said the sculpture wont be built in order to ensure optimal security at that location. The sculpture was supposed to be formally revealed at an event Friday, but that has now also been cancelled.
Earlier this week, Dan Belcher with Sandtastic told NewsChannel 36 that the sculpture was to include a carving of the DNC logo, stars and strips and a message saying Welcome to Charlotte.
Ritz-Carlton officials also planned to use floodlights to display red, white and blue lights at various locations of the hotel during the DNC. The display will still go on, the hotel said, and begin at 8 p.m. Friday.

...got that Napoleon thing going on right there...
I love the wide lapels. Makes him look like a pimp.
Word was it was to be a sculpture of the ZERO.
But after Clint’s speech with the chair, the DNC was not going to allow a replica of Zero, IN SAND, to be shown!
That would be saying Clint was correct and Zero is a empty suit!
Great editing!
St. Peter don't call me 'cause I can't go
Gotta pay more taxes to the a$$hole O!
The DNC mojos will be telling Americans to go pound it.
One of our favorite songs when the boys were little (from the Psalty tapes):
Dont build your house on the sandy land
Dont build it too near the shore
Oh it might be kind of nice
But youll have to do it twice
And youll have to build your house once more
You better build your house upon the rock
And put a sure foundation on the solid spot
And though the storms may come and go
Peace of God youll know.
Who let the cats in?
Matthew 7:24-27
New International Version (NIV)
The Wise and Foolish Builders24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.
