F#m A E F#m A E
Four hundred empty acres that used to be my farm
F#m A E F#m A E

F#m A E F#m A E
When I was five I walked the fence while grandpa held my hand
CHORUS:

F#m A E F#m A E

F#m A E F#m A E
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
VERSE:
The crops we grew last summer weren’t enough to pay the loans
Couldn’t buy the seed to plant this spring and the Farmers Bank foreclosed
Called my old friend Schepman up to auction off the land
He said John it’s just my job and I hope you understand
Hey calling it your job ol’ hoss sure don’t make it right
But if you want me to I’ll say a prayer for your soul tonight
BREAK: (SAME AS CHORUS)
And grandma’s on the front porch swing with a Bible in her hand
Sometimes I hear her singing “Take me to the Promised Land”
When you take away a man’s dignity he can’t work his fields and cows
There’ll be blood on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Blood on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
INSTRUMENTAL: PLAYED LIKE INTRO..... (VERSE AND CHORUS)
VERSE:
Well there’s ninety-seven crosses planted in the courthouse yard
Ninety-seven families who lost ninety-seven farms
I think about my grandpa and my neighbors and my name
And some nights I feel like dyin’ Like that scarecrow in the rain
CHORUS:
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I’m just sorry they’re just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
CHORUS:
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I’m just sorry they’re just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
“I hated that episode. “
It’s a gosh darn scary one, that is for sure. Our babysitter told us the story years and years before I ever saw it. It’s scary every single time!
Cloris Leachman plays the kid’s mom, she’s very good and whoever plays the dad is good too.
The only other really scary one I’ve never seen (I think) is the “Talking Tina Doll” one, with (I think) Telly Savalas. I keep trying to catch in during a marathon, but of course I need hubby to watch it with me, so he can tell me what’s happening as I hide under the blanket.
The great take away: The corn behind Zer0 will be taken for the cars instead of given to cattle producers for meat production. Then, $150 million worth of meat and fish will be purchased from farmers while prices are low, and frozen for later. This taking off the market of such food products is reckless when you consider supply-demand economics. It is a recipe for creating increased scarcity that escalates the cost of food.

Where are “The Children of the Corn” now that we need them?
Our first President Cornpone.
“How do you like the White House lawn now?”
” As you can see, my voters are straight as a cornstalk”.
“See: This is what my Kenyan home’s yard looked like”.
“Michele: You out there?”
(Obama)
I would not be just a nuffin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
(Valerie Jarrett)
With the thoughts you'd be thinkin'
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain

Anthony and Talky Tina are two of the best. Another good one has William Shatner looking out a plane window and seeing an alien on the wing. Everybody thinks he’s crazy.
We bought the entire series-26 DVD’s-a few years back and are still working our way through it. We keep them in our RV for camping trips in more remote areas where there is little or no TV reception.
Doesn’t matter ... there’s never a kernel of truth in anything he says. /bad pun
“We keep them in our RV for camping trips in more remote areas...”
Yikes! That’s about the last venue I’d want for a twi-zone marathon!
You are way braver than me!
Scarecrow
ok Beavis.
