Two brothers accused in one of the worst cases of animal hoarding in Pennsylvania history have pleaded guilty to animal cruelty less than a month after 185 Chihuahuas were seized from their home.
Thomas and Albert Ambrosia of Benton pleaded guilty earlier this week to two counts each of cruelty and a dog law violation, according to Columbia County court records.
Thomas Ambrosia, 59, said it was difficult for them to enter a plea since they "treated the dogs like our boys and girls." But he told the Press Enterprise of Bloomsburg that they wanted "to get this behind us."
Veterinarians who checked the Chihuahuas plus two other dogs that were also removed from the residence found no serious health issues, only minor eye, teeth and skin problems, and officials say they apparently came from a loving home.

Ditto and ditto.
Chihuahuas are so ugly, too.
Suburban livestock for the end of the world? ;-)
God I hate their yapping.
They are such cute little dogs with such sweet faces!
However, I am assured that their ears are big to hide their horns, lol. (No offense intended to any Chi owners)
“They found the corpses of 30 Chihuahuas in a freezer, but the dogs apparently died of natural causes.”
Cremation costs a lot and in most places, it’s illegal to bury your dog on your property.
Coulda been a money thing.
If you’d ever had your ponytail come loose at 80mph and you didn’t find out until you got home and off the bike, you wouldn’t laugh.
[took me two days of intermittent combing, knot-picking and brushing to get this mess unsnarled]
;D
About $250 a pop, being conservative.
But I’m sure that had nothing to do with stealing their dogs.

Were all- or at least one gender, altered? If the dogs were in good health, not neglected, & living in sanitary conditions- AND these guys aren’t running a puppy mill, I don’t see what the problem is. One dog can have any of those conditions (Chis are notorious for needing strict dental care) or all of them. Chihuahuas are one of the breeds that are overbred, interbred, & carelessly bred.
Not all cremations are just one dog. I guess it’s possible that they intended to have the minimum number to insure that their ashes were just their dogs & no others. I think it’s kinda gruesome, but...
But yeah, this qualifies as hoarding. Imho, people should never exceed the number of dogs/ cats/ pets that they can evacuate quickly & safely in an emergency.
Note, people. 185 Chi Hua Huas, times $250 = $46,250.00
Do any of you think these dogs were confiscated for THEIR benefit??
