A Turkish newspaper columnist has been heavily criticised after writing an article which said the Olympic Games is destroying the female figure.
The piece - called "Womanhood is Dying at the Olympics"... soon spread around the world by saying the Games was distorting women's bodies ....
'Their breasts the symbol of womanhood, motherhood flattened into stubs as they were seen as mere hindrances to speed.
'I am not even talking about female javelin throwers, shot-put athletes, weightlifters, wrestlers and boxers.' He added that the appearance of many female Olympians was 'pathetic'.
Following the publication of the article, Mr Aytug was strongly criticised by people on Twitter and his own female colleagues.

Yep. And practically ever action film today has a super-model like woman hero(ine) beating up a man.
Unrealistic in the first part--and dangerous in the second if any girls think that's normal and try it in real life.
It's fascinating to me that so many on a conservative blogsite cannot see the huge distortions of feminism on our whole culture....including sports.
For every hottie like you’re posting, we can find 99 Olympian women who look like the old East German swimmers...
I wonder if anyone’s every written an article about how the Olympics has “destroyed” male bodies. Has anyone ever commented unfavorably on how weird male swimmers look, with their overbroad shoulders, shaved chests, and thin, short legs? Or male skaters, with their balloon-like thighs and hunchbacks? Or male gymnists, who look like overly muscled pre-pubescent boys?
Nah. Of course not. Men look the way they do because that’s what their sports demand. Women? How dare they do the same thing.

great points !!!
... but, even more, people forget about the selection process.
does playing basketball make you taller?
does being a jockey or gymnast make you shorter?
...certainly, having a slender frame, is an advantage from many sports.
people gravitate towards what they are good at naturally.
...yes, lowering your fat percentage, makes breasts smaller, but, only so much.
people confuse cause and effect...
Arnold Swarzenegger and Dolly Parton might love to run marathons... but...
but...
I’m with you momtothree.
First of all....even when you disregard athletics, all women are built differently.
You see alot of focus on breasts in this thread - as if breast size is uniform outside of sports.
Big breasted made up women have a place in our society - look at the movies, tv shows, magazines, etc...
A girl wants to be a good student and dress prim & proper?
Good for her!
A girl wants to throw on her gear and compete with other athletes....fantastic!
That is what is great about America!
Perhaps you are correct and I am totally wrong. But with that said, Do I believe the evidence before my lying eyes?
One of the more glaring examples before the public is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Compare recent pictures to his Movie era pictures. I’ve seen this several times in my life.
As I was told many years ago, to keep in good shape means you must continue to be active, don’t become a couch potato and stay away from desk jobs that tie you to that desk. (That’s last one is a personal one from me.)
All I have said, and perhaps not in a good way, is that an athlete who has trained themselves to a peak where they have little body fat has to watch themselves after they stop that training regimen so that they don’t go to fat.
So does muscle turn to fat? Probably not, but it does lose it’s tone if not maintained. Change the diet much and fat can and does form if the calories are not burned off.
If you find fault with that, so be it. My own experience in life has shown that to be true.
Raising a daughter to try to rival your daughter.
Men who are sure of themselves are not threatened by powerful women.
My brother set me up with a woman he worked with once in gardening/nursery/landscaping. She put her work boots on one foot at a time just like everyone else - but she kicked major ass when she had them on.
Some coworkers of his (who she regularly bossed around as part of her duties) said to me “How can you date her? She is SUCH A B*TCH!”
I could only answer “She sure is sweet to me!”
Amen. It’s crazy to throw some of the legit problems in society and pretend that they are represented by female Olympians, when it’s just the opposite.
China's Zhou Lulu
But I do track back my comment. Some women can be pretty in any category.

“My Grandmother was routinely cheated on...”
Glamorizing the “olden days” is easy to do. Facing the realities of what our Grandmothers and Great-Grandmothers endured and rose above is a different story. My Great-Aunt was similar... had the crap beaten out of her on a regular basis. No education or job skills to really escape and the societal pressure that only “bad” women left their husbands. Until the day that he beat her so badly that she gave birth to a stillborn baby later that night... a dead baby with bruises. She went to her parish priest who told her to “keep a nice house and not get him angry”. So she became a “bad” girl. She borrowed money and took the kids and left. Got a job in a city a thousand miles away.
Girls that participate in sports are less likely to do drugs, get pregnant as a teen, and do better academically. She is also more likely to have a positive “body image”.. meaning she isn’t sticking her finger down her throat to fit into a body mold defined as “feminine”. If and when you have daughters, you will be an awesome parent!
Other countries are now just getting the calories to train and compete.
“.... and beat them over the head with it”.
I’m beginning to wonder if some of these guys are the type that “rule” their women with an “iron fist”. How could anyone not think that Rousey isn’t absolutely gorgeous! How can anyone say that she is “hurting society” and contributing to our society downfall?!
But what you say is true of everybody, not just athletes. We’ll all look and feel horrible and put on weight if we sit around on our backsides all day. Has nothing to do with being a former athlete.
She’s a pretty girl but theres never a good reason to cheapen yourself by allowing someone to take pics of your groin area.
Morgan is a very attractive soccer player and there are some really great pictures of Hope Solo out there too. I happen to be female and I played soccer for 22 years. I sure looked different on the field than I did off. Many women athletes are very beautiful and feminine when not competing.
Definitely the exception, not the rule. And it’s about more than looks. If a woman is highly competitive and adversarial — the “alpha female” type — I’m not too interested. I want someone I can work (and play) WITH, not AGAINST.
To paraphrase Frederick Douglass They cannot cheapen Ronda Rousey. The soul that is within her no Church Lady can degrade. She is not the one cheapened on account of such judgmental prudery, but those who engage in it.
Of course not. Muscularity and certain kinds of athleticism are innately understood as a masculine.
Football has players and cheerleaders (both are athletes) --but the feminists would have football outlawed...or demand that 50% of the players be women, and 50% of the cheerleaders be men.
How about TV's emphases on fashion and dance in men? As one poster noted above, figure skating in the Winter Olympics seem to have very feminine women....and effeminate men.
My main point in posting is that the Olympics very clearly prove that femininity is most definitely denigrated in our culture today.
If you can't, or won't, see that, well, nothing that I say will change you.
“She is a woman. She is an American...”
She sounds absolutely wonderful! Great job in raising an intelligent, independent, strong, conservative woman. “... how much they sound like Muslims”. They do. They refuse to see the complexity of women and center totally on external qualities. Anytime I read something that sounds like, “A woman should ____”... it is placing half of our society into a box. It limits half of our populations skill, dreams, hopes, ambitions, and possibilities. There is nothing wrong at all with a woman who can cook a nice dinner AND can change their cars oil. Nothing wrong at all with a woman who can run in a marathon AND is a doting, loving Mother. Can some of these freepers actually be afraid that they won’t be needed? Would they refuse to go to a female surgeon or hire a female lawyer if they needed to?
We are raising our two daughters to be intelligent and strong. They both helped me can 24 pints of salsa and both can fish. Both are involved in sports. Both will be great conservative women.
As a mother of a 14 year old daughter I'm positive that when she becomes an adult she will under stand that there are somethings you don't show the world and that will be one of them. If that makes me a prude I'm ok with that.
