For my entire life I have been a Republican and a Conservative.
Of late I have moved to the monicker of 'Conservative.'
Now, in the face of this upcoming election cycle I find myself moving to a new category.
Henceforth, I am a "Radical Conservative."
I like you better already
I think the argument is "what is marriage?" and we've had a pretty firm definition for the last 2 or 3 thousand years; so the current problem is the attempt to re-define clearly understood words to advance the gay agenda.
a hardcore conservative. You believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense. Believe the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals.

It is weighted in many ways (I suspect we all “lost” 10% for saying no to the Patriot Act).
The Conservative answers are generally first.
The Conservative answers are generally longer and include rationale.
The Conservative answers basically say “PICK ME.”
I have always been and will never change, a Christian Conservative. I have never been a Republican.
Well, I'm going to dis-agree with you about this. From my perspective the term 'Conservative' fits well with my political positions.
As mentioned by 'KevMo' above, "I believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense. Believe the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals."
I also believe that the Constitution is a powerful document that clearly defines what the foundational beliefs of the U.S.A. are and that it is our sacred duty to preserve and protect these ideals.
As for the "conserve or conservation" part, well, I look at it as conserving a natural habitat, or environment that we live in. Like a 'Political Nature Conservancy' thing. We must keep and protect that which we have been given.
We, the citizenry, have been entrusted with a beautiful thing with this country. I've lived in many different parts of the world and have been outside looking-in a great deal. The U.S.A. is the best. It damn sure has its faults - but overall, its the best thing going.
Thats my idea and definition of "Conservative"...conserving what we have been entrusted with.
And it looks like its almost time to 'fish or cut bait'...if you get my drift.
Thats how I see things from over here on the outside...looking in.
That is an excellent set of thoughts and I thank you for introducing me to your way of thinking. I see it. We are conserving (or doing our best to conserve) a nation born in Freedom.
I do appreciate that- sneaky little Texan...
He had NAFTA pegged right- if it weren’t for the raise in the minimum wage we would all be making 5-6 bucks an hour.
That’s the problem with politics. We need a Conservative Christian Party or some such.... we’ll never be a majority again in this dispensation ( I know- Baptist doctrine) but we could throw our weight around in a more organized manner, perhaps.
Take care, FRiend.
I don’t know where it is going, but there is a very real right and left fight in the GOP, it isn’t just a spasm.
The left got the nominee, but the right is winning enough congressional seats that it looks like the right side of the GOP might be close to gaining an almost parliamentary type strength, and it’s leadership is young and tough and charismatic, they may be able to overtake even the entrenched GOP high ups and presidency in a few years.
We may be able to take over one of the two major parties in America.
Bush 1 was(is) an honorable man, but he didn’t destroy the groves. That has been the undoing of leaders since the original (re)occupation of Israel.
Riding high, he permitted evil to persist when it could have been more completely extinguished. To have done so would not have been well received in global politics; he opted to back off several fronts as we had clear leadership at the time.
I was more engrossed with El Salvador and El Paso at the time.
It was meant to be, I guess.
That is much preferred... I think.
Several moderate Repubs were just wacked in the state primaries by right-wingers here in KS yesterday. I think I heard 8 state senators...
Of course, they would be democrats elsewhere, but here they have to run to the left in the GOP here in KS.
It’s shaping up for a showdown soon, as you suggest!
“real reason Perot ran”>>>>>
It was to keep Bush 1 from winning, I absolutely believe that. I will never forget the look on Perot’s face election night, he was joyous. He lost but so did Bush.
