This was inspired by the original DEVO flowchart, but I felt the original author had far too many logic errors and missed song lyrics.

You are welcome to enjoy the recent “DOH!” moment I had. Remember “Cars” by Gary Numan? That’s about the worst thing he ever did.

Look up Tubeway Army (band) and the “Replicas” album Followed by The Pleasure Principle and Telekon under his own name. His entire catalog with a couple exceptions is incredibly good. His later stuff is musically outstanding but goes off into his athestic crap lyrically. But the first 5-6 albums are diverse and entertaining.

IMO, his best song ever

Remember the band Sugar Ray? They had that hit "I just want to fly". It was basic pop suck. A friend lent me the album and said, "PLEASE don't judge Sugar Ray by that one song. The rest of the album is tight hard core rock."

I listened, fast forwarded past the pop bulls**t, and damn if he wasn't right. The rest of the album kicked ass.

I never got into them but I have read that a couple times. I’ll have to give them a shot.

I took a look at Sugar Ray’s youtube offerings. It seems they vacillated between pop suck, and their GOOD music, the hard crankin’ rock. Almost all the youtube stuff seems to be their pop suck stuff.

I love Nine Inch Nails, almost all his stuff. Reznor is a musical genius. He also worked with Marilyn Manson quite a bit, and I actually admit to liking a little of Manson’s stuff, probably because I hear Reznor in there.

Here is Reznors best studio effort, I feel: Every day is exactly the same

Read the lyrics (it accompanies the song) with an eye toward the totalitarian state America is 80% transititoned to..... very eye opening.... seems Reznor got it before the rest of us....

If you like NIN.

You should check out Adrian Belew (guitar genius) who BTW, Reznor has credited with being a big influence.

Rex also did some of NIN’s final shows with Numan and credits him heavily ;)

I like NIN overall. Some creative stuff in that boy’s head (and some decidedly lib stuff too unfortunately.) But he defined an entire genre. His Crow cover of Joy Division’s “Dead Souls” blew away the original IMO. His stuff on The Downward Spiral was just insane. “Big Man with a Gun” will always be one of my faves. I am amazed how badly it was misinterpeted by the press.

ALMOST NOBODY got his point.

(For non NIN fans... if you look it up, don’t say you were not warned ;)

That song is silly. It’s not my musical favorite, but it’s cute.
