CNN(as usual)will be ignored. FoxNews will be the laughing stock for it’s part in initially calling it wrong. Not sure if that misinterpretation was on the part of the reporter(Shannon Bream)on the steps of the SC, if so she will be looked at like the gal who read Bush v. Gore all wrong.

Sure.

This ruling galvanizes those who care about liberty.
If they act, they will focus not on mitt, but on the Congress - to elect congressmen with balls, who will fight.

That is the only thing that will change the movement to decline.

That’s very short-sighted. It matters not one whit if the “commerce clause” end-runs are curtailed, if the federal government can ignore it altogether and say “do this or else we’ll ‘tax’ you”.

That’s taking away one weapon and replacing it with a better one.

Well the former atty general just admonished the rats to be wary of smoking the ‘exploding cigar.’ We just witnessed a slap-down of the power to regulate our lives via the commerce clause. That is hugh.

Another point is that under the Anti-Injunction-Act, the SCOTUS cannot rule on taxation until somebody has actually had to pay the tax. That means, when the tax is collected in 2014, this could go back to SCOTUS and they could then rule it is an unconstitutional tax. Personally, I don't think it will last that long.

Roberts ruling seems bad at first glance, but he did the right thing and in the long term, it may have doomed ObamaCare. It never would have passed in the first place as a tax and it won't survive now as a tax.

If my memory isn’t faulty... the final Obamacare bill was the Senate version. Rather than sending it back to an uncertain vote in the House, the Dems “deemed” the Senate version passed through reconciliation.

Well... ALL revenue bills MUST originate in the House, according to the Constitution. Perhaps the SCOTUS just invalidated the entire law by other means... but of course, that would take another case to make the point...

I don’t see one. Even if Obamacare is repealed, the feds now have unchecked power to control every and any aspect of our lives. If we do not submit, we can be fined and jailed. I feel like slavery has been legalized today.

With no checks on the federal government, liberalism in every form must be opposed and defeated. It must be fought with every ounce of energy in every district in every corner of the country. No bargaining, no compromising.

He hit it out of the park with repeal and rewrite...This in my judgment increases our chances of winning the war. “

I’m not anti-Romney at all. I think he is saying everything right, and running a good campaign. He has a chance to win.

But the real issue is the sixty votes in the Senate. Where are those going to come from?

I would think this would enhance Mitt’s chances since he has said he would work to repeal. I also think this might help us re-take the Senate. Let the libs gloat for now. We are not done by any stretch!

Stupid media, they never learn...

I was reading the scotusblog just as the Fox News anchors were, word for word. Yet their initial announcement that it was unconstitutional came perhaps 30 seconds before the blog raised the first flag that there might be more to it. So Fox News really jumped the gun to call it, just as they’ve done in the past and it always gets them into trouble.

What would it hurt if they’d said “This could be complicated, we’re going to make sure we understand what’s in the ruling before we bring you the result”. It’s not like anyone is sitting there with a stopwatch anyhow.

The silver lining could be this might move Texas one step closer to secession.

Yeah, the good news, according to the Congressional Budget Office, is that there will be about a million or so folks who will have more than enough time on their hands, because that’s how many people are going to be losing their jobs. Come November, they too will be casting votes!

It does one more thing in my book - the govt taxes us for inaction all the time. It’s called a FINE, which is what they call it to dress it up pretty. It’s a TAX and always has been, and now Robert’s has brought that front and center.

There are three things I can see that’s gonna’ hurt. First, there are lots of old and young people in this country who believe this will help them.

Two, there are lots of people in this country who have no idea what this law is.

Three, Mexicans think they’ll now get free healthcare if they can get across the border. We don’t enough border patrol to stop it. It’s gonna’ be like the final scene of BORN IN THE USA.

So, to answer your question, I don’t see a silver lining.

They already do that - it’s called a fine. A fine is a tax and nothing but an attempt to polish the turd. Roberts has brought it front and center that a fine is a tax and nothing else.
