Here’s one: since it’s now only legal as a tax, it can be repealed with a simple majority in the Senate through reconciliation. It’s not much, I know, but it is something.

Have you heard the saying "Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves"?

The rope is being uncoiled.

The longer we drag out the disease, the longer we suffer. Having the fecal material impact the rotating blades sooner, could lead us to recover before I assume room temperature.

A government mandate was NOT approved today.

What was determined was that the Obamacare opt-out payment is a tax, not a penalty.

The Anti-Injunction Act prohibits the Court from ruling on the Constitutionality of a tax until someone actually pays the tax.

If Obamacare survives repeal efforts, then in 2014, someone will pay the “tax” and then challenge its Constitutionality.

OsamaObamaCare is hugely unpopular in this country.Even in Massachusetts they sent a Republican to the Senate during the battle...a Republican whose entire campaign consisted of "I'll vote against OsamaObamaCare".Romney has been handed the gift of an excellent...a compelling...issue for the campaign. My understanding is that he did quite well in his initial response...stressing that it is,among other things,a *huge* tax increase.

As it is now a tax, it can be challenged once imposed and collected.

Yes. Roberts ruling is correct. It says, the govt cannot do whatever it wants under the commerce clause (YAY!). And he says Congress is granted the right to tax under the Constitution (correct). He further points out that is not the job of the Supreme Court "to save the people from the consequences of their political choices."

Roberts did his job by upholding the Constitution.

Now, it's time for us to do our job by voting out all the idiots who created this insane tax and then repealing it.

The ONLY hope I can see is the “possibility” that the American people now become mad enough to vote for their own freedom and survival.
Going back into history, it required the people to become angry enough to create this nation.
Now we will see if people can become angry enough to preserve it.

There is a silver lining; unfortunately, it will take 40 to 80 years to pan out.

Societies of plenty lead to socialist and communist yearnings, socialist and communist yearnings eventually lead to collapse (c.f., the USSR and modern Europe -- Greece, Italy, Spain, and then the others), collapse leads to societies of great hardship and scarcity, and that leads eventually back to a desire for freedom and free markets.... which leads to societies of plenty. Then the cycle begins anew. You need only read history to see this manifested, over and over.

Problem is, it will manifest here long after our passing.

Plessy v. Ferguson. It can be overturned.

Yes. Roberts and the Libs, contrary to common wisdom of most of my fellow Freepers, have FORCED the American Public and the Congress to either poop or get off the pooper.

The Dems do not want us off the pooper, lest they be up to their neck in poop.

So FINALLY we either have to develop a spine or be ruled by fiat. There is no longer an excuse possible.

Conservative business will now terminate many lib employees or pay dearly.

Conservatives will now defriend and defamily themselves of liberal influence or be an active participant in their own demise.

Honestly, I’m glad this happened for the reasons above. The country NEEDED a slap in the face. Now it can do the right thing and correct it’s error or fall/fail utterly.

NO MORE EXCUSES.

I wish there was a “like” button! Very true... and as it is a tax, there is no way to spin it as popular. “Taxes” can also be repealed and reduced much more easily than a mandate.
