If someone wants to compare an earlier Bush Administration program that focused on identifying straw buyers and stopping them BEFORE they could take guns to Mexico with an underhanded effort to SUPPLY traceable US guns to Mexico so that the fact could be held up as a reason to curtail citizen gun rights in this country, then they are welcomed to do so, but the corollary does not exist in any fashion for any sane person. In reading some of the older articles about the FF, I realized that the Democrats claimed that Bush started it because he refused to renew the ban on assault weapons. Holder with drew the statements that he made because he knew that they accusations against Bush were just excuses, not valid accusations.

It’s the old, “The Devil Made Me Do It” excuse, Bush being the Devil.

The differences in method and intent couldn't be more stark.

I just wish everyone would use proper terms in order to distinguish technically being truthful and misleading, versus lying. Carney was talking about "gun walking" which started during the Bush administration and Holder stopped it. That part is technically true. The process of straw purchases, with implanted GPS devices, with arrests as soon as the criminal purchasers walked out the door, was much different than what Obama/Holder started, called Fast & Furious".

Fast and Furious was designed so that the drug cartels would use the weapons, kill people, and then use the killings to implement gun control.

Gun Walking under Bush is not Fast and Furious under Obama.
