No project is off limits to Ridley Scott. Over the course of his 35-year filmmaking career, the English auteur has dazzled audiences with his thrillingly diverse oeuvre, tackling everything from science fiction (Alien, Blade Runner) and sword-and-sandals epics (Gladiator) to modern warfare (Black Hawk Down). He is probably the closest thing to this generations Kubrick.

What about the rumored Blade Runner sequel?
Funny enough, I started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel last week. We have a very good take on it. And well definitely be featuring a female protagonist. (Emphasis Mine)

Ditto that.
Prometheus is a prequel so that wouldn’t make any sense.
WHEN IS THE BLADE RUNNER SEQUEL?? They didn’t say.
Considering what Scott said not for a few years if ever.
Ah come on,you at least have to give props to "Sucker Punch" in regards to cinematic eye candy and John Woo type action.
Interesting fantasy life he has.
Of course, in a real dystopian world, far from kicking ass, women will be traded around like poker chips - the lucky ones, that is.
I saw Bladerunner again recently, and can’t understand why it’s held in such high regard. I much prefer Aliens 1 & 2, and John Carpenter’s, “The Thing.”. And 2001, however idiotic the concept, is the standard by which sci-fi should be judged.
——Am I the only one sick of 100 pound models kicking the crap out of 200 pound men?-—
No.
But my pet pet peeve is cgi karate, with karateans doing quadruple flips while changing direction in mid-air.
Next on the list is head-butts that only hurt the buttee.
I could go on...
OOH! Let’s show Decker in a modern “retirement facility” while a still hot Sean Young wipes drool off his chin!
luv it!
“He is probably the closest thing to this generations Kubrick.”
Ummm... no. Scott’s a good director, but there is usually not a lot of subtext or thought-provoking commentary in his work, and when he tries to put that in, it’s ham-handed and weakens the film. See “Kingdom of Heaven”, or “1492: Conquest of Paradise” for great examples of this.
Blade Runner 2 would probably be worse than Indiana Jones IV.
Can't be any worse than "Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Geritol".
You have seen Spaceballs, right?
I don't think Scott is a plagerist. Didn'y you see "Spaceballs?"
Mark
Scotts confirmation at the London press conference
that Prometheus will have to deal with the origins
of the Space Jockey. (big thing they found on the planet
with the chest burst open).
I believe Blade Runner has been rated by a couple different groups as the best sci-fi flick of all time.
Why mess with perfection?
It will be some time coming. Scott has only had
1 or 2 meetings with Fox execs. He did say the
protagonist would be a chick.
Deckard’s a Replicant, too.
I have yet to read “ Do Androids Dream of Electic Sheep?”. Is that where that comes from, or is it a fan legend? I have heard that he was, and I did watch it again through that subtext. The broken fingers are an issue, if he was.
Scott/Dick took Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
to a magnitude better that it is with Blade Runner.
Just like Kubrick/Clarke took "The Sentinel" to 2001...
I would say, don't bother with the book (sheep).
"The Sentinel" is classic Clarke; as is "The Nine
Billion Names of GOD".
To the point, there is a scene in Deckard's apt when
he is cleaning up after a fight. Sean Young is on the
couch. There is a long, some what blured shot, over her
toward Deckard in the ?kitchen. His eyes are reflective;
like all the other replicants.
Scott denied it for years, but gave in after the
'Directors Cut'; where he left the glowing eyes scene in.
