No project is off limits to Ridley Scott. Over the course of his 35-year filmmaking career, the English auteur has dazzled audiences with his thrillingly diverse oeuvre, tackling everything from science fiction (Alien, Blade Runner) and sword-and-sandals epics (Gladiator) to modern warfare (Black Hawk Down). He is probably the closest thing to this generations Kubrick.

What about the rumored Blade Runner sequel?
Funny enough, I started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel last week. We have a very good take on it. And well definitely be featuring a female protagonist. (Emphasis Mine)

For your SciFi ping list.
Very excited about the new Prometheus movie, Alien-like, but not Alien.
Me too although it seems the trailers have given away the overall plot but is Scott giving us a huge head fake?
The trailer, to me, seems to indicate an Alien prequel. The creatures looked an awful lot like the big thing they found on the planet with the chest burst open—before they found the eggs for the first time.

Ya , it’s all in your head LOL
Ya same Alien “Space Jockeys”. Same type of ship as well, just like the derelict in Alien.
I believe that the premise that the original “Alien” xenomorph was a biological construct of the “Space Jockeys” and Prometheus explores the origins or purpose of these “engineers”.
What I find hillarious is that the Left seems to like the “Kickass women” in the action movies, women who knoe their way around a gun etc...
But when they see one in real life ala. Sarah Palin. They shit themselves and run away like a simprering wimp only to return throwing out catty rebuffs like a high school drama queen against her....
Apparently the left only likes kickass women when they are in the movies and not in real life.
Just setting a sequel in the Blade Runner universe does’t guarantee a great flick. The story was the primary feature of Blace Runner. The plot was quite deep and ambiguous in just the right places to make you think about the issues the movie was trying to explore. That this great story was handled by a great director who was able to get great performances by his actors (especially Rutger Hauer) is what put it over the top and moves it to the level of all time great flicks. If Ridley can do it again it would be awesome but it will take one heck of a killer script to do so.
I too, feel that I already “know” the movie by all the trailers given, and there is a quick shot of an “Alien” relief on a wall, but I don’t think it will have any of the original monsters in it.
Going to see it anyway and enjoy myself in the mythos.
I liked Alien and Blade Runner because they were earthy and dark. A lot of Ridley Scott’s films lately have been too shiny. The trailers don’t give me much hope that Prometheus will be a worthy addition to the Alien canon, although it will almost certainly be better than *spit* ‘Alien: Resurrection’...
Interesting story in the sidebar at the link;

Prometheus will only reach Epic standard if it has a final scene with John Hurt laying on a counter screaming “Oh Sh*t, not again!”
But, will it hold a candle to 'Alien Vs. Predator" :-)
I think it’s confirmed info that Lance Henriksen will make some appearance in Prometheus.
Nah, that was pretty much the premise behind Aliens3, Alien Resurrection and A v P. < |:/~
Ridley Scott is the original “Alien” filmmaker. I saw that film the second night it was out and it scared me. Had to look at some scenes through my fingers. No Alien sequel was as good
I am looking forward to the prequel “Prometheus” by Ridley Scott. Lord knows when we will ever see it. Blade Runner was a ground breaking film which I did not understand when it came out. But it sure looked good and Rutger Hauer is a fine actor
Am I the only one sick of 100 pound models kicking the crap out of 200 pound men?
