Boy vaccinated with Girls version of Gardasil...total pancreatic failure. Questions...

Posted on 05/01/2012 8:54:06 PM PDT by Mama Shawna

RARELY post anything...this is a total vanity, but, I would like some input. We have a customer who has a 14 year old son that got the WRONG Gardasil shot last fall. The clinic where he got the shot notified them 3 months after the fact that he got the FEMALE version, instead of the MALE version, along with 15 other boys (they wanted his parents to bring him back in for the male version...and they refused, I think, luckily). Just in the last month, this kid has had total pancreatic failure, and now must take insulin shots, and monitor his blood sugar before EVERY meal, for the REST of his life. I can't help but think this is related to the Gardasil. I've done some googling, but can't really find anything out there. Does anyone out there in Freeper-land have any experience in this, and can clue me in? I just feel horrible for our customer and his kid, and as soon as I heard the words 'Gardasil' and 'mistake', red flags went up BIGTIME!! Thanks FREEPERS!

I don’t think there is anything wrong with that term.

You are the one who stated that doctors no longer use that term, I just disagreed.

I stated it because it is inaccurate and truly is NOT used by the specialists in the field. The fact that you can cite one peditircian is really not the same as saying all the docsw use it -—which is of course what you did

Diagnosed type 1 at 39. While my wife may call me juvenile, my doctor didn’t. Although, he did tell me that type 1 is what was commonly referred to as juvenile diabetes, just to educate me that there was no difference. I would have possibly thought that juvenile diabetes was a subset of type 1. From what I see, doctors are trying to get away from the juvenile diabetes label because, as I am proof, it isn’t always accurate. Although, since the vast majority of cases occur during childhood, I am sure that the term is still used.

You are correct. The term is still used by some but most docs and specialists in the field use the other terms (Type 1 or insulin dependent).

You explained it perfectly and if your wife calls you juvenile I am sure it is always a term of endearment ;)

You stated that is no longer used by doctors.

It is, by my son’s dr. and other specialists he has gone to. They usually use both terms. Type 1 or juvenile.

You really don’t know what you are talking about. That is why I called you out. Yes, some may no longer use that term but lots do.
