It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.

To the Men who retook Corrigidor under MacArthur. Thank you!
My step-dad T/5 Frank G. Arrigo along with Pfc Clyde I. Bates climbed up one of the few still-erect telephone poles near the parade ground and attached to its top a US flag that flew there day and night for the rest of the Campaign. My dad passed on to Jesus in 1986 after a short bout with lung cancer. Dad told us that he had helped raise the flag on Corregidor and was mentioned in the encyclopedia for doing so. Dad didn't talk about the war often just vague references to it. We never knew he had carried the flag with him when he jumped nor that there was sniper fire when he helped raise it.

The Gathering
May 28, 2012
During Oswald Chambers service as a YMCA chaplain in Egypt (19151917), he touched the lives of many soldiers who died in World War I. On November 6, 1916, Chambers wrote in his diary: We have a letter from a New Zealand friend telling us that Ted Strack has been killed. And so Ted Strack has gone to be with Jesus. That is just how he would have put it . . . . [He] was a rough beauty of nature and of grace, a fearless, loveable little saint. Thank God for every remembrance of him . . . . So they are gathering one by one.
As we grieve the death of those we love, we cling to Jesus promise of life beyond the grave. The book of Revelation records Johns vision of a great multitude from every nation, tribe, and language gathered around Gods throne in heaven (7:9). The overarching truth of this passage is a glad, eternal reunion when the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd [us] and lead [us] to living fountains of waters (v.17).
The passing of every believer in Christ foreshadows the day when we will join them with the Lord. In our sadness today, we are hopeful as we see that they are gathering one by one.
Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion
With our dear loved ones whove gone before;
In that fair homeland well know no parting
Beyond the sunset forevermore. Brock
Goodbyes are the law of earth; reunions are the law of heaven.

Love this graphic and song. I do remember this one because Billie loved Taylor Hicks so much. Thanks, Amy.
