A long-lost medieval cookbook, containing recipes for hedgehogs, blackbirds and even unicorns, has been discovered at the British Library. Professor Brian Trump of the British Medieval Cookbook Project described the find as near-miraculous. "We've been hunting for this book for years. The moment I first set my eyes on it was spine-tingling."

You know, if your airplane crashed on a mountain in South America or you got trapped in the snow in the mountains of California, I might understand this, but, canned unicorn? Oh, the sun doesn’t shine as bright today. Ireland.....probably ate all the leprechauns......

That’s just a painting of a unicorn crossing a stream on a ladder with Joe Biden in a skirt trying to give it a blow job.

Shouldn’t you skin and gut a unicorn before grilling?
To: Sioux-san
Very true.
Because the unicorn is seen as the mythological horse with a horn, it is often ignored that real unicorns do exist and where spoken of in ancient literature, by Pliny for example.

If this is real, it was prepared by the cook of Edward II’s wife (mother of edward III and iirc influential early in his reign as his mother fought to keep the throne for him after his (useless) father’s death. Been years since I read the details on it.
this would be mid-14th century. Wonder if it was written before the plague.

Because the unicorn is seen as the mythological horse with a horn,The illustration shows a creature with cloven hooves. I've never seen a horse with cloven hooves. Goats, yes, but not horses.
To: thecodont
The illustration isn't the usual depiction of a unicorn.

OK, here is the recipe for blackbird pie.
First, you catch about 2 or more dozen blackbirds. Only the breast part is edible, so throw the rest away. The pie, as eaten back in the Depression in parts of Arkansas looks more like chicken dumplins than real pie. Oh, be sure the birds have met their demise before you cook them.

There is are big highway gasoline stations in Texas named Buckey’s. You can buy just about anything there at the numerous locations. They have big billboards advertizing themselves so you won't miss them, my favorite sign says “EAT HERE GET GAS”. It cracks me up every time I see it.
