My son-in-law, S/Sgt Brian Smith, 2nd Munition Squadron, Barksdale AFB, and my granddaughter, Ava Sermon was involved in an accident in Camden County, TN. They were on their way to visit his folks near Hendersonville. My daughter, Jessica, and grandson, Liam were to join him there today.
Thursday afternoon, after hydroplaning during a downpour, Brians' car was struck by a semi...we lost Brian. Little Ava is at Vanderbilt University Childrens Hospital.
Please pray for our families, and Baby Ava. Things are very hectic, so I must say thanks in advance. I'll update when possible.
Your thoughts, and prayers help lift heavy hearts. Our love goes out to all.
Baby Ava was removed from the critical list and is responding well. She has a few skull fractures, and corresponding contusions on her brain, as well as soft tissue injuries in the neck. She has a marked weakness on her right side, but the great Docs here feel she will have a complete recovery. Her Daddy did fine by me, keeping a two year old in her car seat for an extended trip.
My wonderful son-in-law will be laid to rest in the Tennessee Veterans Cemetary at 1400, Wednesday afternoon. God knows I loved that boy. Our hearts are slap busted.
Thanks again for the FReeper Family continuous prayers. :-( tears flowing...
That’s good news, in light of all of this sorrow, about Ava. Our prayers continue for her full and complete recovery!!
God bless you and your family, StgBob.
God bless you for your prayers, Brad’s Gramma. Ava’s Grampas’ heart feels it. I bet I can respond quicker when my eyes quit leakin’!
Tears are good medicine. It just breaks my heart that your family is going through this...
SGT Bob, you are in my prayers,
(((((Sending Loving, Caring Prayers)))))
SgtBob, what an unspeakable loss for your family. We will pray for Jessica, Ava and Liam and your and Brian’s families that you find strength and comfort.
My deepest condolences to you and your family for such a terrible loss.
Heavenly Father, please embrace this family during their time of such sorrow, such grief....embrace them, show them your love, grant them peace as only you can. Please show yourself mighty on their behalf. In Jesus’ holy name....amen.
I am truly sorry for your loss. Without question, prayers for your daughter, your grandchildren, your family, and you. Prayers for healing, peace, and strength.
May God hold you all in the palm of His hand.
A touching lullaby that Greg Lake wrote for his daughter.
But I view it also as how God would sing us to sleep. And which I read at my
sister's funeral.
“No matter how dark or how long
it may seem that your night is
I will still be here
So be still, because you know that I will
tonight and forever
be watching over you.”
“WATCHING OVER YOU”
May Our Almighty Father receive your Son-in-Law, and grant Baby Ava His healing and make her whole. May He send His angels to watch over your families and keep you safe, may He provide you strength, and soothe the pain in your souls. I ask this in the Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.

Oh my... I am so sorry for the loss of your son in law, and will lift prayers for him, for your granddaughter Ava, and for you and your family.
Dear Lord, please welcome this young soldier, Brian into Your kingdom, and watch over his daughter Ava, guiding the medical team in their efforts. And Father, please comfort and strengthen all of those who so need it in this sad time.

Sgt Bob, I’m just now seeing this. How awful and yet what a miracle that little Ava survived. Her angel was certainly watching over her. Asking: “Lord watch over this family as they go through the valley of the shadow of death. Comfort them and grant them peace of mind, and sooth their broken hearts. Be with Ava in your healing Spirit. Thank you Lord, for you alone can help at this time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
My humble prayers have been offered up for you and your family.
Your entire family including your son and Ava are in my prayers!
Prayers from this house to Brian, Ava, you and your family.
Prayer ping!
Words fail me. Prayers up
