And after all those Super Bowls and Division Championships he won for them.

Interesting.
He’s such a presence here in Indy.
We have “Peyton Manning Childrens Hospital” and dozens of other similar things. Does commercials for EVERYTHING.
By my view, a good family, excellent role model, and wish him prosperity and good health.

I wish Jim Harbaugh was smart enough to go after him.

Nobody wanted to see my voter card, but I did have to show my photo ID.

The 49ers were so close to the SB, I’d think tearing up the team to pay Manning’s huge salary under the cap might be a huge risk.
I’ve had the same back problem as Manning, I can’t imagine getting clobbered by 260 lb guys running 18 miles an hour.
But he’s a very smart guy, and free to do what he likes.

I will too.........
As a side note, what are the odds that two brothers could be two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL as well as their father when he played?

I love my Colts and love Peyton....I wish he would retire, not because he is no longer a Colt but after three neck surgeries I don't think it is worth the risk of potential paralysis or suffering a lifetime of pain and neurological degeneration.....I want him to be able to play with his kids and continue an active role from the sidelines in the game of football......
I wish him all the best and like another FReeper stated , I will be a fan of whatever team he plays on......unless it is the Cowboys......

I hope he comes to the Jets so he can continue to coach his brother.

Manning would be a tremendous coach. He does have a very real physical problem that could limit his play. 28 million for another year on the sidelines would be costly.
We will always be nuts about him here and will always root for Peyton wherever he is.

Manning has played this beautifully. Look, if he wanted to stay with Indy, he could have reworked his contract, to void the $28 mill bonus. Remember, last season he did get $22 mill while unable to play. No team he signs with now wil pay him anywheres that much..I suspect any contract he signs will have many performance bonuses attached to a low base rate.
Nope, Manning feels that he can play a few more years. I hoipe he can, and that he won't suffer an injury. But this way, he can sign with any team he wants, and he's looking for a GOOD team that needs a QB, and in a major media market ( Hello..JETS!!) Indy's rebuilding..won't be good for a few more years...after Manning retires..So now, it's all Irasay's fault..

I’m not a Colts fan, and as an Indiana taxpayer, have contributed significantly to Little Jimmy Irsay’s billion dollar personal wealth.
Anywhere Manning wants to play is fine with me.

I wonder if there is any significance to the fact that Manning is expected to attend the press conference where the Colts are going to announce that they're cutting him. Could this be a retirement announcement?
This is one reason why I've never been a fan of the NFL salary cap and the league's non-guaranteed contracts. In years past, the team would have gone to great lengths to make sure a star like this could have spent the rest of his career there.
