Rather young. Makes me feel old today.
My mom was at Martin Memorial for a time. Although I had words with some of the doctors, the support staff there was the best I’ve ever met, including the janitors.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Tiger Beat magazine owes him. He was soooo short but such an idol to the early teen set of the time. “A little bit me, a little bit you” was one of the Monkees’ best.

Original “pop idol”? I think Rudy Vallee, Frank Sinatra, and Ricky Nelson would dispute that. Mozart might fit the bill...

The first Hollywood producer put together “boy band” for a TV show. They were primarily actors given instruments and #1 hit songs written by Neil Diamond.
That being said - they made the most of it - became talented musicians - and did their best to promote good music.
When they went on tour they had, as an opening act, Jimi Hendrix and the Experience!
Now that takes some brass plated cohones - to go on as an actor half trained as a musician AFTER Jimi Hendrix has just blown away the audience!
 Rest in Peace Mr. Jones.

    Thx for the sad pingy.
I saw him in person a couple of times. He was probably about 5’5ish..and even though he was in his 40s or so...he still had that “cuteness” thing happening.
Wonder who the other two will be?

Wonder it we’ll have 24 hour a day news coverage of this “icon”, and his storied career, ala Houston?
Nevermind, I forgot he was White and probably not a drug addict.
