They had Neil Diamond and others writing and "The Wrecking Crew" playing but so did everybody else INCLLUDING The Beach Boys and Simon and Garfunkel so no biggie! They all went on to become great performers and writers.
Nez is very gifted but his leftism is just too much for me. Peter was the rock, had his own band for awhile before health problems slowed him down. Mickey and Davey could sing and act and ENTERTAIN.
Yes they all had problems later on...IIRC Davey or Mickey was busted in Aspen for barging in and taking over the stage at a small club. Compared to most from that era they did pretty good though.

My first crush as well. This kind of news sure makes one feel rather old.
RIP, Davy. Prayers for your family and friends.

Mike Nesmith also wrote some of the songs. For a chuckle, check out Elephant Parts from the 1980s.

Davey had a very cute face. Very British, too.

From 1966 on I always wondered what was so special about Clarksville. Been visiting family there since 1978 and I still don’t get the Monkees connection. Oh, well.

GMTA.
See my #18 above.
Just a soaring superb tune suffused with stellar musicianship, the likes of which apparently, cannot be produced anymore.

My two kid sisters and all their friends had the same crushes all young girls did at that time. For all it’s bum raps the 60’s were such an innocent time. Now for a thirteen year-old boy at that time .... Dianna Rigg..., Barbara Eden....mmmmmm...

"From 1966 on I always wondered what was so special about Clarksville."
The way it was explained to me was that Clarksville was a big transit point for soldiers on their way to the West Coast for transit to Vietnam. That may not be right, but it does make a lot of sense when compared to the words of the song: "... and I don't know if I'm ever coming home."

You mean there’s no monkeying around in the afterlife.
Wow man like, what a drag!
