Microsoft is scrambling to preserve what's left of its kingdom...
The stakes are much different as Microsoft Corp. puts the finishing touches on Windows 8 ...

I’ll pass.
My guess is, because this is Windows last chance to get into mobile or disappear into just being a server company or something, they will probably give more value for the money than Google or Apple.
I’m hoping for a Windows phone w/ keyboard. That’s what I really want.
Let me know when service pack 2 comes out. I won’t touch any MS product before then.
Nope .. 7 is likely the last OS of this lifetime
It’s way too soon for a new Windows. We haven’t learned all of Windows 7 yet. Consistency is critical and a new OS every two years is not OK.
I think Mucrosoft agrees with you, but for them to go mobile, it was now or never. From what I read, they could not wait two years to go mobile. They would have been shut out.
They never issued Windows 4, 5, and 6. Still waiting for those.
Every other Windows operating system that comes out tends to be the good one.Before Vista I had a good one, and my other puter hast the Seven, and the one that still has Vista still has its issues.
I am thinking along those lines that number Eight will be crappola.
The only person I despise as much as the Obamabutt is Gates.
May Microsoft die, die, die...and take all the crappy software with it.
My minitower computer still runs XP. I think I’ll upgrade when windows 9 comes out.
I think it’s too late. Between Apple and Android, the market is set. Unless Microsoft comes up with something exceptional that works on really popular hardware, they missed the boat.
Microsoft became big by putting their operating system on the hardware that was the most standard (and way cheaper than Apple). I don’t think that market is available on mobile devices.
Mega dittos.
I've only had a Windows 7 computer for about 8 months now, and am still getting acclimated to it. It's a stable system, but dammit, I can't find a lot of my old XP tools anymore. Grrr....
3.1=1
95=2
98=3
me=4
xp=5
vista-6
They said the same thing about the game console market.
I have a five year old laptop computer running Vista and I have no problems.
My desktop has 7 and it’s an excellent OS.
Microsoft is throwing everything behind 8, as it cannot afford to have it be problematic. So, I’m expecting a near flawless OS, as it cannot afford to have it otherwise.
The no longer have hotels on Boardwalk, Park Place and the green properties. They once did. Too bad for them.
NT 2000 was the one I used the longest. I’m still running a server with that operating system. It works great. Eight SCSI drives in two Raid configurations with a Dell Server with two power supplies. Good stuff!
I hear ya .. the lappy out in the shop still runs xp, and will prolly do so til the sawdust finally chokes it to death.
