When RWR was governor in CA he visited SFSU and upon leaving got tied up in a student protest. It was the usual Occupy type crowd
At one point a scruffy kid ran alongside his car screaming 'I am the future'.
Reagan responded with a quickly scrawled message on his note pad 'I'm selling my bonds'.

One-liner as in joke, or just one-liner?
“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” sent chills down the spines of leftists all over the world.
To: skeeter
LOL! You got to love it! That’s great!

What was it? I can’t watch Youtube at work.

Rather asked, “You blame Congress for the state of the economy, but is any of the blame yours?” He responded, “Yes, because for many years I was a Democrat!”

Reporter Sam Donaldson, “Mr. President in talking about the continuing recession tonight you have blamed the mistakes in the past and you blame the congress. Does any of the blame belong to you?”
President Ronald Reagan, “Yes because for many years I was a Democrat.”
To: Why So Serious
Rather asked... Just a minor point...it was Sam Donaldson on the tape.

Just like those fantasy sports leagues where you can play a team from one era against a team from another. I wish there was a fantasy presidential campaign, I would love to see Reagan debate Obama, completely dismantle him and leave him blubbering like the two bit community organizer he is.

To: Why So Serious
Rather asked ... That was Sam Donaldson asking the question, not Rather. Donaldson is of the same ilk as Rather so the skewer applied by Reagan was right on target.

Loved this one from him:

"One-liner as in joke, or just one-liner?" It showed his humorous side.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! one liner was a historical moment that changed the world.
He knew how to use one liners for different occasions.

Absolutely. Those funny one-liners were proof Reagan was brilliant on his feet. Notice most of them were not only funny they were biting.
