UNBELIEVABLE?! Newt Loves FDR, Models Himself After Woodrow Wilson and Admires SEIU’s Andy Stern

UNBELIEVABLE?! Newt Loves FDR, Models Himself After Woodrow Wilson and Admires SEIU’s Andy Stern Tuesday, Dec 13, 2011 at 3:52 PM EST

t’s not as if Newt couldn’t have known his past comments were going to eventually be called into question. He’s capably navigated his way through his big government tendencies so far and miraculously still has solid support in the Tea Party. Will the latest damaging clip have any impact? Gingrich is caught praising his favorite president of the 20th century: FDR. Yup, he picked the mother of all progressives ahead of Ronald Reagan.

Watch the video montage below:

Cue sound of heads exploding across the country…NOW!

Seriously?! This is unbelievable.

“This goes back to what Newt Gingrich said on this program. You got to get things done. That’s akin to saying we all love the Constitution but there are things we got to do,” Glenn warned.

“FDR did get things done, and then they were ruled unconstitutional,” Stu joked.

But that’s not the worst thing – on the clip at the top of the page Glenn reads a story where Gingrich praised SEIU’s Andy Stern in one of his books.

In his book “Real Chance: From the World That Fails to the World That Works,” Gingrich praises the SEIU head, who remains a close adviser of the President Obama. Pitching the need for conservatives to respect organized labor, while simultaneously pushing back against some of Labor’s more cherished legislative goals, he wrote the following:

” Conservatives cannot cheer unions overseas and then be blindly anti-union here at home. There are legitimate historic reasons for workers to organize together, and there is a strong need for a healthy, competitive, union, movement that helps improve the lives of its members and the competitiveness of our country.

I was wondering how Beck went from up to down. This Newt thing has really grabbed the conservatives and they will go to war against facts. Oh well, with all his flaws, I like Newt but I am not blind and dumb. He has stabbed conservatives before, but he is a changed man now? He is now a virgin and does not kite checks. And he is did not lobby despite his fat bank account from Fannie and Freddie. I say he is pure as the driven snow now. He did not say FDR was his favorite despite a recording saying he did. I can’t wait for the global warming knife in the back from either Newt or Mitt. This is not the greatest field.

I’ve lost count the amount of times I have heard him use the phrase “executive order”...guess it means more of the same: Rule by exective fiat.

“Newt’s compass is pointed toward Conservatism.”

I disagree with you there. He decries Tea Partiers.

But he’s shrewd and he knows politics in DC. He’s articulate and at times poignant. He does believe in America, and he can fillet his opponents.

He was drummed out in DC, by hook or by crook, and has no doubt changed in his ways as a result, whether he likes to admit it or not.

His articulation of his belief in America goes beyond the power-hungry. His oratorical skill approaches K-Bar sharp. His apparent wisdom counterbalances 0bama’s marionette parrotting of pre-written verbiage.

If we could but have a true believer in Conservatism sitting at the Resolute Desk, such as Santorum, we know he’d keep his feet off of it and DC would cower in its basement tunnels. As it stands now, we need an SOB. Frankly, it appears that, as of this week, the guy to send into the sewer is Newt.

We also need super-majorities and enough WILL to slash and burn the EOs, the lies and the Dem power mantel to smitherines. This is the Prog’s height of power—and they know it. They also know that all glory—like power—is fleeting.

We must demonstrate the WILL to win. We’ve kept our political enemies confused, which is actually a good thing. Now, we must manouver like the very best of predators. And when we strike to win, we must remember that he who wills, wins.

Let's just apply some Common Sense and go Thomas Paine on their a$$ and get it over with already before this country reaches the point of no return!

I've got some feathers somewhere..

Glad he came to his senses....after 25 years. Perhaps he’ll realize Gorebull Warming is a sham before I retire.

He’s pimping a liberal R for President only because they both share the same religion.

and you must not watch Beck or Mathews...

ymmv

Beck would make a great head of the department of education.

Aside from that, eh...

Re: 50

Although I believe a rock could debate Mr. Obama (without his magic TelePrompTer) successfully, we want someone who will not only 'win', but someone who can articulate conservative positions and call the media out on their duplicity. Mr. Gingrich seems to be the only Republican candidate with the ability and fortitude to succeed in both of these areas.

Absolutely!!

With all these hair brains here saying Newt can’t win against Barry - not one of them can tell me what’s so great about Barry they think he will win. I guess they have to get back to their ‘sponsors’ for the answer. ;)

UNBELIEVEABLE?! Glenn Beck had a high-paying, cushy job with FOX news and has now been relegated to a website because of his wild and outrageous paranoia.

Beck is off the rails. This and his supposed support for Santorum is just a ruse so he can ‘reluctantly’ (cough) support Mitt.

So he will magnify in one what he ignores or spins for the other.

That is Mormon SOP. It also applies to their church, the Bible, their other ‘scriptures’, their history and their theology.

I really think the brainwashing is taking hold.

and Clinton turned out to be rather good president (Balanced Budget, Prosperity)

While I agree with you on Newt, I do not agree with the above statement. Clinton would not have had a balanced budget except for the interference of the Republican legislature. After the Republicans were voted into office during Clinton's early first term and shut his taxing a** down, Clinton figured it out and kept a low profile and pulled Hillary off of her national healthcare kick.

He was terrible in other ways also, he gave secrets to China and, if republicans, specifically Newt, hadn't been elected to the legislature with a majority then he would have taxed Americans silly.
