I have a selection of audio streams I listen to via a number of different methods. Not often, but just now, they just stop. (This one was being run with WinAmp, but I also use WindowsMedia, and whatever PopupPlayer is being used.) This one had been going for about an hour, and usually continues until I stop it, somtimes five hours later.
Obviously, if I'm listening it's not a big problem to recognize that the stream has stopped and restart it. But there are times when I leave a stream running so I can capture it while I am out. So if it stops then I am out of luck.
It seems as if it ought to be easy for the software to recognize that the stream has failed and restart it, but I am not aware of any such feature in any of the players I use. Does anyone know something about this that I do not know?

Try this link.

The aim of this plug-in is to detect when there is a specified duration of digitial silence through Winamp’s output and allows for restarting the current track and a few other actions (as shown in the screenshot to the right).
A common use for this plug-in is when you’re listening to a stream and it cuts out and Winamp will just do nothing in an attempt to reconnect to the stream (if it still exists).
I believe some websitea have time limits on them and others turn off when there is no activity on your computer. I usually just seek out another site to pick up the program that doesn’t do that.

Question: what program do you use to record streams?
Finally:
Does anyone have a link for Fox television News (other than the official website which does not stream) streaming?
I don't have any business relationship with them other than being a very happy customer.
bump for later read and use.
I listen to Fox Radio through Windows Media Player. Usually a replay of the previous night of Greta in the morning (though some days it seems like it might be a replay of Fox Bus. Channel) then Brian Kilmeade, John Gibson, Tom Sullivan. Mostly good but Gibson and “Angry Rich” (his sidekick) agravate me. It seems like they are too pro Mitt.
Yes........ you simply have to set your beebers to stune..
Total Recorder Pro, from High Criteria. Highly recommended.

I also use Total Recorder Pro. I recall having some problems with their capability to start a stream long ago and I just haven't used it at all in years. I wasn't aware that they would try to restart the stream either. Is this automatic? Or do you have to choose some option for this?

Thanks for the tip. Haven’t tried it yet, but it looks great.
I don't know if it works when you just click record on something already streaming, but if you schedule a recording the Advanced tab lets you restart if you drop something called a "dial-up connection" :-), if nothing is recorded in a user selected number of seconds or if sound level is below a user selected level for a user selected number of seconds.
I'm a couple versions behind on my computer, so it might have changed since then.
