Now with family and friends in canada...last night at LAX we went to the idiotic, commie routine of putting our hands on our heads and posed for the x-ray like the rest of the sheep.
TSA nazis were in the same mood: yelled at everyone especially to take out ALL ELECTRONICS, place them in the bin etc. There was a very noticeable line of people that AFTER the x-ray, they were still pulled to the side and had to take out every stuff they had in their bags of course, especially the women who had to embarrassingly take out their clothes as well.
Went through without a hitch. Now the problem was I had 1 CARRY plus 1 PERSONAL, no luggage as I travel light.
I took out every laptop, cell, in a bin..apparently, I forgot that in my big "personal" bag, the bag went thru the x-ray and the TSA morons forgot/did not see..
1) a new Nikon compact Nikon camera 2) an Iphone speaker compact system 3) a lighter designed to look like a knife(bought it for a cousin from a Hollywood souvenir shop) ..in the big personal bag.
My Gf took our her Ipad, belt etc. Apparently, she did not tell me that the Iphone spkr system was a personal gift to her parents and on my part, I just forgot the camera was in that bag as we were in a hurry to get to the airport and get the boarding pass.
The best part: the Iphone speaker system also acts as an alarm clock.
When it came to 6:30 pm, it started to go off in my personal bag. Then we realized it, then I started laughing that they just did not see the electronics..
They don’t care about the iPad or the speakers. The lighter/knife bothers me, but they see iPads and speakers all the time. There is no requirement to take those out of the bag.
They also don’t care about the camera. Another thing they don’t care about, even though they say they do, is small bottles of liquids. I have flown countless times and I NEVER put those small bottles of liquids in a see-through bag like they say. Not one time have they ever asked me to pull them out. The only thing I’ve been asked to remove was a full-size can of shaving cream that I’d forgotten about.
“There is no requirement to take those out of the bag.”
It also depends on the TSA agent. Just spoke to a few when i was bored and she was ordering coffee, that the TSA guy told me he’s new to the job and most of them do not even know some of the regulations..
I did chat to the LAPD guy right at the back of the TSA guys texting on his cellphone and laughing, he told me the same thing.
Yes, they see consumer electronics a hundred times a day and know what to look for. If they saw a strange orange silly-putty mass in one of your gizmos you can bet they’d want a closer look.
hmmm.. thanks the info
That's why I haven't flown for seven years, and never will.
The way to to end the TSA tyranny is to have an air-traveller's strike.
Too bad it will never happen.
got thAT RIGHT
I went to a motorcycle rally where they were making anyone with a knife carry it back to theor motorcycle and get rid of it. I walked about half a mile each way and went to the rally where they were selling knives.
Crazy.
The TSA’s requirements mean nothing to me. I refuse to be a sheep and just don’t fly. Haven’t since October 2000. And you know, I don’t miss it. Have seen all of foreign countries that I care to see.
Same here. I pack all my lotions, etc in a cosmetic bag and throw it in my carry on. Not once have they stopped me or checked my luggage after it goes through the scanners.
Depends on the airport, some places they will stop you everytime. The TSA is a joke and their only purpose is to make people think its safe so they’ll keep flying. The TSA certainly doesn’t prevent anything.
Ha ha, this reminds me of when I flew out last year to visit my Mom for a few weeks. I took some of my crafts with me in my carry-on, neatly packed in a clear plastic container. Well, all those little bitty one inch ink stamp pads must have set something off, because the TSA pulled me aside and wanted to examine every single one of them! It was a HUGE hassle to repack the box after they finished with it. Needless to say, on my return trip, those were all in my checked baggage.
Never did figure out the exact reason, since I have been in the same courtroom many times before and since and only had to check my pocket knife the one time.
Just let people bring whatever the hell they want to on a plane. I don’t like muhamed’s chances if I’ve got my Mossberg and other like minded Patriots have our eyes on him.
I heard that all TSA Members are former applicants for ACORN that didn’t make the grade! but are considered loyal members on the ACORN PAYROLL!
Good thing you didn’t try to sneak a bottle of water in!
Electronics are perfectly acceptable. The “take your electronics out” is not a TSA directive — some airports ask for it but they never do anything about it if you don’t.
You don’t fly much, do you?
