By the way, if you didn’t notice, it looks like the guy sitting there had wet his pants.

I missed that but I can't blame him. Loved the way the silverback pulls the baby back away from the guy. Taking responsibility for his charges not letting them be too rough with the fragile human.

Chimps are very different from gorillas. Much more dangerous. They have too much in common with us. I’ll never forget the October ‘78 NatGeo issue with the article that had Jane Goodall’s revelations of war, serial killing and cannibalism.

The swashbuckling Arthur Jones, inventor of the Nautilus exercise machines, actually HAD a pet lowland gorilla, name of Mickey, whom he taught how to work the equipment. It was unbelievable how much weight the critter could move.

Well, the silverback was pretty enormous. Did you notice how he herded the little one away from the man, with an almost human gesture?

That silverback proves that the answer to the question, Where does a 500# gorilla sleep, is entirely correct.

I saw that too. Very scary I remember what some chimps did to a guy here in So. Cal. and that Gorilla was much bigger.

Gorillas, on the whole, are much larger than chimps but are much less aggressive than chimps. Male chimps will attack male humans with very little, or no, provocation. Gorillas need a reason. Still the guy was correct in averting his eyes from the Silver Back, who looked to me to weight about 600 lbs.

I did notice. I was waiting for someone else to mention it. A reasonable reaction, given the unpredictable nature and strength of these wild creatures.

Oh yeah. That silverback could throw a 200-lb man ten yards.
Even the babies could twist your head off like a bottle of ketchup.

Did you see the gentleness the Silverback used in moving the little one away from petrified man. There is some level of intelligence there.

Really neat vid. Yes, he was correct in keeping eyes down, I kept thinking that he should close his mouth and stop showing all those teeth. He was smiling, but I don’t think I would have trusted the SB to know that...

Well, chimps regard a smile as a sign of fear but I am not sure if gorillas do.

Yeah, I always thought it was some form of agitated emotion; fear, aggession, nervousness, un-ease.
