Kiefer Sutherland will go where the action is in big-screen followup to hit series '24.'
Nothing can stop Jack Bauer not terrorists, and certainly not Hollywood development hell.
The long-delayed 24 movie is set to start filming in the spring, once star Kiefer Sutherland becomes available in April, Deadline.com reported.
Twentieth Century Fox has been eying a possible film franchise based on its television division hit since before the clock ran out on the shows eighth and final season in 2010.
Director Tony Scott once hovered around the project but has since dropped out. Intelligence reports indicate that the movie written by Billy Ray (State of Play), with some tweaks from Wolverines Mark Bomback will have Bauer causing mayhem in Europe, and that it may deviate from the shows trademark real time setup.
Its going to be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, so we were not going to be restrained by the real-time aspect of the TV show, Sutherland told Britains Sky magazine last year. With the TV show we always had to have the crisis come to us because we couldnt move.
The actor added: Twice we put Jack on a plane and it was a disaster. This will be different it will be very feasible to get from Eastern Europe to England in the course of 24 hours.

I have noticed that the loner, former soldier, probably Christian, and the Russians are back to being the major bad guys on many of the TV shows.
Which means that they will have to rename it “3”.
Vince Flynn is excellent.....
Still would be the same not seeing Jack drive around in the Kiefermobile with all of the whiz bang double naught spy stuff. He was able to get through most major US cities in no time at all.
Rumor has it that the movie might actually have somebody come out of the CTU clinic alive, although that would stretch reality. Characters in a "Saw" films had better chances.
Jack Bauer Rocks!
I thought this might happen, but I don’t know if I could sit through a entire 24 hr episode on the big screen without having a heart attack.
They could always do a prequel and bring back Buchanan, Jack’s wife, girlfriends, Black partner who Jack shot but can’t remember the name offhand, Michelle Dessler, Senator/President Palmer, etc, etc...
‘I can only hold out some small hope that the PC-virus caught by 24 in the final few seasons doesnt taint the film. They went way overboard by showing the bad guys as generic blond, blue-eyed characters instead of Mooselimbs, who are the real agents and sponsors of terror in the world.’
You nailed it precisely.
I’ve got all 8 seasons on disc!
What they need to do is weave in an interaction with “The Unit” group and the movie will be a real keeper!
Love both shows (altho The Unit went a bit “wide” in their storyline.)
Same premise the hero never fails.
With HollyWeird there is nothing new under the sun.
Well, he did work for a counter terrorist agency. It's not like he was working at the Starbucks on the street corner.
On tape, huh? That’s rockin’ “24” old school!
OMG. I’m so excited to see our Jack “drop the gun” Bauer again.
Just don’t reprise the role of his daughter Kim who couldn’t act.
But Edgar, Khloe, Tony, Dmitri and Charles Logan, we’ve missed you.
Can hardly wait.
Well, we need the eye candy.
Curtis Manning (Roger Cross)
Agreed. Do you think we could get Agent Scully into this thing as well?
I just knew one of you guys would post a pic of Kim! LOL.
Loved that show, “The Unit”. Wish it was still on.
That’s the guy, thank you!
