Kiefer Sutherland will go where the action is in big-screen followup to hit series '24.'
Nothing can stop Jack Bauer not terrorists, and certainly not Hollywood development hell.
The long-delayed 24 movie is set to start filming in the spring, once star Kiefer Sutherland becomes available in April, Deadline.com reported.
Twentieth Century Fox has been eying a possible film franchise based on its television division hit since before the clock ran out on the shows eighth and final season in 2010.
Director Tony Scott once hovered around the project but has since dropped out. Intelligence reports indicate that the movie written by Billy Ray (State of Play), with some tweaks from Wolverines Mark Bomback will have Bauer causing mayhem in Europe, and that it may deviate from the shows trademark real time setup.
Its going to be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, so we were not going to be restrained by the real-time aspect of the TV show, Sutherland told Britains Sky magazine last year. With the TV show we always had to have the crisis come to us because we couldnt move.
The actor added: Twice we put Jack on a plane and it was a disaster. This will be different it will be very feasible to get from Eastern Europe to England in the course of 24 hours.

If this thing has Marwan back, it’s going to be a blockbuster.
I can only hold out some small hope that the PC-virus caught by “24” in the final few seasons doesn’t taint the film. They went way overboard by showing the bad guys as generic blond, blue-eyed characters instead of Mooselimbs, who are the real agents and sponsors of terror in the world.
24 ping
However, the subsequent seasons stretched all credulity. I mean c'mon, the same guy (Bauer) gets caught up in all these 24-hour "world-is-ending-but-I-save-the-day" scenarios.
Yes, really the same guy does exactly that . Thus Jack Bauer!!!!
"may" huh? Don't think I'd survive 24 hours in a theater seat.
I loved this show. I have all 8 seasons on tape. Hope the movie biz doesn’t screw it up too much.
It’s entertainment. Not unlike Vince Flynn or Brad Thor.
They are popcorn for the brain.
Not everything has to be accurate, that’s why it’s called fiction. Just have fun with it for a couple of hours.
Just in time for 2012 - end of the world preditions, presidential elections
Jack - we need you to save us, again! :)
Meh, I never liked 24.

+++++++++++++++++++++
I absolutely agree with this. They ruined a great show with the PC scripts. I also hope they don’t make that mistake with the film.
Nah, this will be like how they shot Clancy’s, “The Sum of All Fears”, where muzzie baddies were —presto, changeo— transformed into white supremists and South African commando’s or whatever.
Same deal with Die Hard —I mean, I think we’ve all been harassed by a few South African mercs swinging around long blonde hair, right?
That, or it will be one Muslim guy heavily marketed, but he’ll turn out to be in a huge phalanx of McVeigh look-alikes.
NEEEVER trust Hollywood.
Heck, they were showing the muslims as the good guys by season 2 where the evil was from within our military.

Like the plots of any TV shows are realistic?
My sentiments exactly. Do it right and it could be a good movie. But movies spunoff from TV shows don't have a good track record that way.
How much you wanna bet that the story will be patterned on a President’s determiner efforts to get a terrorist named lin Baden?
HURRY UP!
Well overall it was Mooselems who were the bad guys so in order to change it up they went Russian. No big deal. I mean they have to make the show a little suspenseful. I loved all the seasons and will go see this film no matter what.
