Time Magazine's latest cover is out, with a photo of Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney. The tag line: "Why don't they like me?"

In a blog post accompanying the cover's release, Time columnist Joe Klein writes, "Romney has problems he can't do anything about. He's wealthy, a member of the Establishment in a party that is trending very strongly toward right-wing populism. He's also a Mormon, which is rarely mentioned by Republicans, but is an obvious disadvantage among the party's evangelical protestant base.

Maybe it's because you don't have the common freakin' sense to put your Irish Setter INSIDE your station wagon, and tie your LUGGAGE to the roof rack for a 12 hour trip to Ontario, instead of the other way around.

Conservatives are going to do to you what your dog did during that 12 hour trip, when one of your kids said "ewww Dad? there's some brown stuff coming off the top of the car and flying out the back!"

Actually, the Stepford husbands were pretty normally behaved, except that they convinced themselves that their wives should be replaced with compliant robots. Also, Stepford husbands live in CT (from where both campaign Pete [currently] and I [originally] both hail), and we resent being compared to anything from Massachusetts (neither of us are Red Sox fans).

Sorry to insult CT—I wasn’t referring really to the place—as much as to the robot.

I am insinuating that Romney is a compliant robot (designed to look attractive) the way the wives were Stepford wives—he is a Stepford husband —not the husband of a Stepford wife.

It is just ever since I have seen him on TV—he triggers that Stepford response in me....Every single time. Can’t get beyond it. Can’t even listen to what comes out of his mouth.
