• PACIFIC ZERO HOUR NEAR; JAPAN ANSWERS U. S. TODAY - Hawaiian newspaper headline

• "We have completed destruction of codes, but since the U.S. - Japanese negotiations are still continuing I request you approval of our desire to delay for a while yet the destruction of the one code machine." - Message from Washington to Tokyo transmitted in Purple code. Translated on December 6th

• Mary L. Ross, a clerk in the Cable Branch in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff logs a message to be sent to Hawaii and other stations. This message logged as being sent on the same day is cable No. 519, the message on the Winds Code.

• Washington's "good night" message to Hawaii, designed to verify if Hawaii had gotten all the messages sent to it that day is returned by Hawaii verifying that they had received messages 517 through 521. This would include message 519, the Winds Code message.

• Panzer forces around Leningrad grind to a halt along the Leningrad, Piatitskoe and Volokolamsk roads.

• The Red Army begin a counter offensive in the Kalinin Front sector that will spread from Kalinin to Kastornoe.

• "The Night and Fog Decree is issued by Hitler through Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel.
  It allows German troops to execute any obstructive non-German civilians in occupied nations.

• "Generalplan Ost (General Plan for the East), directed by SS chief Heinrich Himmler, proposes the deportation of 31 million non-Germans in the conquered Eastern Territories to create Lebensraum ("Living space") for German colonists.

• " The German Ministry of Occupied Eastern Territories decrees that the destruction of Jews shall continue irrespective of economic considerations; i.e., the allure of unpaid Jewish labor will be ignored.

• " During the murder of 5000 Jews at Novogrudok, Belorussia, 200 Jews resist and kill 20 Nazis before being gunned down.

• " A death camp opens at Chelmno, Poland.

• "Ten thousand Jews deported from Odessa, Ukraine, are murdered at camps at Acmecetka, Bogdanovka, and Domanevka, Romania.

• " Mass murders of Jews in the Ukraine and Volhynia region of Poland are slowed when the frozen ground prevents the digging of execution pits.

• "Fur coats belonging to Jews in eastern Germany are confiscated by the Nazis.
  They'll be used by German soldiers on the Eastern Front.

• "The Jesuit journal Civiltà Cattolica, published in Rome under strict Vatican supervision, reminds Catholics that the Jews are supposedly those primarily responsible for murdering God and that the Jews repeat this crime by means of ritual murder "in every generation."
