Just yesterday I watched the YouTube of Nixon on LI.
LI was the original, Hee-Haw was the country knock off attempt, though it did stay on the air longer.
I don’t recall LI having live music playing every 15 minutes.

Some people think the Laugh-in shows from 40 years ago was better than some of the tv shows currently produced today.
When I saw the headline, I thought the exact same thing. He always turned me off.
Yup. According to Wikipedia, he lived in West Hollywood, the gay mecca of LA.
He was the poor man’s Paul Lynde.
“Wanna bite of my Walnetto?’’
“I know that Sherlock,...”
You don’t have to get snippy.
He was a WWII vet, so give him points for serving and for some degree of courage.
He made many of us laugh for a number of years. As I remember '68 thru '73 that was a much needed service.
He was able to lampoon his closet gayness at a time when that alone was a risk.
He was one of an ensemble that broke ground for many entertainers who have followed.
And, watching Laugh In today is a sad reminder of how naive we were then and what we've lost since.
Finally:
OK; he was gay, like no one here knows and accepts anyone who is gay?
Face up, most of us have friends or associates who we know to be gay...don't have to condone it but neither should you condemn any and all who fall under the general category.
(Full disclosure: No, I am not gay.
Yes, I live in So Cal and have some pretty good neighbors who are.
Yes, they understand that I don't admire that part of their personae.)
Some people? You mean other people don't?
RIP, I met him years ago, he was a very nice man.
Oh yeah! I remember that guy. Loved Laugh-In.
Here comes the judge!
As far as I remember, his name was spelled Seus, not Sues. Now, I’m seeing Sues EVERYWHERE!
Yeah, right. Next, they'll try to tell us that Liberace' was gay.
you bet your sweet bippy!
