Gingrich Breaks from Catholic Church on when Life Begins
ABC News ^ | Dec 2, 2011 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 12/03/2011 12:07:46 PM PST by wide meadow

It may seem a technical point to some, but to those focused on abortion as an issue, it isn’t.

Breaking from groups that believe human life begins at the moment an egg is fertilized — also the position of the Catholic Church, of which he is a member — former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told ABC News he believes life begins at implantation.

But he expressed confidence that he can win the vote of anti-abortion activists despite this difference.

Exactly.

The Sock PuppetinChief gets to point his nose dictatorily skyward and declare whimsically that the question is “above his paygrade” in some kind of faux humility/inside-bird-to-the-unwashed, and the State News agencies work to subdivide all groups that might vote against the SorosElect-a-con2012 machine.

Fractalization of political views and always hide the fact that the political class are looking more and more like perpetual and untouchable royalty.

“Why would he convert to a religion he doesn’t believe in?”

Disagreement with one tenet hardly means you “don’t believe in it.” But you knew that.

Read up on Abraham Lincoln’s religion, if you can call it that.

How dare Gingrich THINK when so few of you do.

It is pretty pitiful isn’t it. FReepers won’t be happy until they’ve destroyed every candidate who is a conservative and left us with Romney and Hunstman.

So hope ABC News and the rest of the MSM.

The Church doesn’t consider it ‘technical nonsense’—there are a number of implications that directly follow: any birth control that prevents implantation of the embryo (IUDs, the pill when it fails to prevent fertilization), embryonic stem cell research (Gingrich apparently opposes but it’s not a logically consistent position—if it’s not implanted and not life then why oppose?)

The media is such a laughingstock.

Yes they are and apparently the public is in dire need of a good laugh, since we have MSNBC which puts ABC to shame with bias and focused directive in their reporting....

A fools errand...

Oh ABC is focused on abortions, millions of them!

I’m sure ABC is equally “supportive” of the Catholic position on homosexuality. /s

Praise the devil and damn Gingrich and all republicans!

Last I checked, the egg and sperm have to come together for anything to happen.

Q. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

A. Usually, it's the rooster...

Cheers!

I like Newt just fine, but he’s a Catholic in the way that Pelosi is a Catholic—when he decides to call himself one. Doesn’t make it true.

Taken a step further, any birth control that prevents fertilization of the egg. Afterall, if it is God’s will that the egg be fertilized then who are we to take steps to prevent it. We should all have 15 kids whether we can afford them or not.

Disagreement with one tenet hardly means you “don’t believe in it.”

Actually, it kind of does.

The pill prevents implantation of a fertilized egg.

IOW, Noot is for birth control, which is also against Catholic doctrine.

But we all knew his "conversion" was a cynical political calculation intended to redeem him for his past sins.

Implantation——Conception-—Semantics—

Just crap dug up by ABC.

He is against abortion, fine.

Why attack Newt and give the abortionist lovers like Pelosi, and Biden a pass.

Even if Newt said he didn’t believe in abortion after the first trimester, he would still be better than those who agree to it while the mother is “crowning”.

Find something else to knock him for this is BS.

The Church has many doctrines and you need to snap out of it if youj are requiring a presidential candidate to accept every single one. This is 16 years of Catholic education speaking, plus my brain.

Newt Gingrich: ... I think that if you take a position when a woman has (a) fertilized egg and that’s been successfully implanted that now you’re dealing with life. because otherwise you’re going to open up an extraordinary range of very difficult questions.

Sleazy TAPPER: So implantation is the moment for you. [Notice please that Tapper purposely mishcaracterized the discussion so that the devil's servant, Tapper, could paint this as Newt not believing the pre-implantation embryonic being is a human being. The discussion was over when the line, sharpest line needs to be drawn, to protect nascent life with law. Jake Tapper is a seravnt of the father of lies, a murderer fromt he start.]

Newt GINGRICH: Implantation and successful implantation. In addition I would say that I’ve never been for embryonic stem cell research per se. I have been for, there are a lot of different ways to get embryonic stem cells. I think if you can get embryonic stem cells for example from placental blood if you can get it in ways that do not involve the loss of a life that’s a perfectly legitimate avenue of approach.

What I reject is the idea that we’re going to take one life for the purpose of doing research for other purposes and I think that crosses a threshold of de-humanizing us that’s very very dangerous.

.

.

Jake Tapper, had he ever questioned little blackberry bassturd boy's ardent defense of partial birth infanticide and the democrap party using abortion as an empowerment scheme, might have some credibility. But as it is, Tapper is the same pondscum as the rest of the dead soul servants of the father of lies. And now freepers who have this inner hate for Newt Gingrich will seize upon this purposed deception as a means to crucify Gingrich, proving once again that some at Freerepublic are so easily herded along to their doom.

Maybe Newt needs to take some biology classes.

When a sperm fertilizes an ovum it usually takes place in the fallopian tube. It is not until after implantation and around 12 to 16 days later, that the father’s genetic code is fully passed to the embryo (zygote). If implantation never takes place the fertilized egg is passed through the woman’s body unnoticed as the pregnancy hormone hCG is not produced unless there is implantation.

That is biology but that’s not to say that the fertilized ovum is not a life.
