As you sit down with your family on Thanksgiving and consider offering a prayer of gratitude, be aware the turkey at the center of the table may have already been "blessed" in the name of Allah.
Customer service representatives from Butterball, one of America's most popular Turkey brands, confirmed to WND that the company's whole turkeys are without being labeled as such slaughtered according to Islamic "halal" standards.
"Halal slaughter involves cutting the trachea, the esophagus and the jugular vein and letting the blood drain out while saying, 'Bismillah allahu akbar'

Never buy that brand, wouldn’t matter to me if I did.
This isn't about defiling ourselves because of the type of meat we eat, it's a method of worshipping other Gods, well known to cults. You miss the point entirely.
Exodus 20:3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2.Revelation 2:14
But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
Revelation 2:20
Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
To show you the error of your ways. /s
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
So while we are stressed not to cause those who are weak to be wounded in their conscience, we are not supposed to coddle those in their weakness, but encourage them to become strong in their faith. Likewise, a weak brother is not to pass condemnation on a strong brother.
The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.
Those who are weak in their faith because they are new in the Faith are in the right place. Those who are weak in the Faith even though they have had plenty of milk need to be encouraged to move forward and eat the meaty teachings.
If you were trying to build the brother up, I think you failed...
If you are trying to rationalize your behavior, I think you succeeded...
Does the Bible say not to offend your brother or to not cause him to stumble? Did anything I say encourage someone to act in a way against their conscience?
Well, if you understood you would know that it’s for the soul of the slaughterer and not a sacrifice per se or even de facto. I’ll not begrudge a man with such a horrible job the peace of mind this may give them.
I understand as clear as word can be. For places int he New Testament commands to not EAT animals sacrificed to idols. I don’t care who or what or why according to the rules of the cults.
I understand as clear as word can be. At least four places in the New Testament commands us to not EAT animals sacrificed to idols. I don’t care who or what or why they did it, according to the rules of the cults.
You are changing the terms of the conversation in order to rationalize your behavior. That's not good. I never said you offended him. The scripture I used said, "wound" and I thought that's what you did.
"Did anything I say encourage someone to act in a way against their conscience?"
Again with the rationalization. I said that if you were trying to build the brother up I think you failed. If you are trying to rationalize your behavior, I think you succeeded.
Romans 15:1-2 - "We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up."
1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 - "He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
Ephesians 4:29 - "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
You may have had a chance to build the brother's faith to your level of strength but I think you missed it.
1 Corinthians 10:12 - "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you dont fall!"
I'm done.
I’m having ham!
I’m not changing the terms at all. He said that he wouldn’t eat it, it was cursed.
That was his assertion, not mine.
I just pointed out that Paul, a long time ago, dealt with this specific instance.
Paul said that those who were weak in their faith had issues of eating meat sacrificed to false gods.
Paul said that someone with strong faith does not have that problem.
I said that if their faith was weak, they should not eat the turkey. But I would pray that they would get past that weakness. And I have.
Now where am I wounding their faith? Be specific please.
You might want to complain to Paul who had no issue with eating meat sacrificed to idols.
A Biblical counter ~
ACTS 15:29, “You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.”
ACTS 21:25, “As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.
Ya know, you keep siting four references in the bible that say don’t eat food sacrificed to idols. I’ll not fall for that trap and ask you for cites. I’m sure they are there.
But I will ask you to cite the halal law that proves those turkeys are being sacrificed to a false god. But first you may consider proving that Allah is not the same God of Abraham that Jehovah — and therefor Mohammad is just a false prophet rather than Allah being a false God.
And than you might want to consider the quandry of false prophets telling us what to do or not. Cause I know some false prophets that instruct us to take the Holy Sacrament.
Not that I really care, other than wanting to point out the absurdity of WND and their article that tries to be oh so serious, on a non serious issue.
Amen!
Besides, our blessing on the food in the name of Jesus trumps their contrived attempt to pander to the muzzies.
Happy Thanksgiving!
1 Corinthians 10:20-21
...the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons.
"But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof" (1 Corinthians 10:28).
Owners of Butterball want to "Halal" turkeys ?...Paul's clear instructions here are to not eat them for THEIR sake.
In the heat of the Missouri "Mormon War" of 1838, FLDS/LDS "Prophet" Joseph Smith made the following claim:
"I will be to this generation a second Muhammad, whose motto in treating for peace was the Alcoran [Koran] or the Sword. So shall it eventually be with us - Joseph Smith or the Sword!"
His protoge, FLDS/LDS "Prophet" Brigham Young made good on this threat, when he had mormons slaughtered 120 christians as young as 9 years old passing through Utah who did not want to convert. They also took many children 8 and younger and kidnapped them and brainwahsed them into their cult.
Now Romney wants to be president.
1 Corinthians 10:29-33 (KJV)
29 Conscience , I say , not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker , why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks ?
31 Whether therefore ye eat , or drink , or whatsoever ye do , do all to the glory of God.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit , but the profit of many, that they may be saved
I notice that you started after the situation was established. Let's look at verse 27 real quick:
27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go ; whatsoever is set before you, eat , asking no question for conscience sake.
So, what Paul has stated is that if you are invited to eat at a feast given by a non-believer, eat whatever is set before you without questioning the host. But if the host makes it a point to inform everyone that the meat was sacrificed to an idol, do not eat, because he has made a point out of making it public. Why? Because your testimony is at stake and might wound the conscience of those who hear about it.
Butterball did not come to your house and tell you of their halal preperations, you went asking about it. (See verse 27, where he says "asking no questions for conscience sake"?)
Paul repeatedly talked about food sacrificed to idols, and his conclusion was there was no problem with it. This portion of scripture deals with public behavior, not eating food sacrificed to idols.
