Nov 21, 2011 Rush Limbaugh Says First Lady Was Booed Partly Because NASCAR Fans Hate Her Uppityism
On Sunday, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden visited Homestead Miami speedway to serve as ceremonial grand marshals of the Ford 400, where some in the crowd booed them.
The White House downplayed the incident today, with the First Ladys communications director Kristina Schake saying only that Mrs. Obama was proud to join NASCAR in recognizing our nations veterans and military families to raise awareness of this important issue for all Americans. As she has always said, she will proudly stand with anyone making a major commitment to serve and honor our military community and yesterday, NASCAR did just that.
On his radio show today, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh gave many reasons for why he thought they were booed.
Citing the 2008 incident where then-Sen. Obama was secretly recorded at a fundraiser describing small town Pennsylvanians in hard economic times as getting bitter and cling(ing) to guns or religion or antipathy to people who arent like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations, Limbaugh said people that go to NASCAR races are the very people her husband called bitter clingers.

get ready for some huge fallout over that comment. race baiters will be out in full force tomorrow.
@Dianne93101 If you dont think that word has racial connotations youre just mistaken.
Jake Tapperr can read Rush’s mind now, even though Rush didn’t even say what he said he did. Maybe he should listen to the show instead of getting his information from David Brock.
lol. Can’t believe anything the MSM says these days
There is a long history of the term “uppity negro” going back to slave days.
Looks like somebody was made back when meat was cheap.

You’re right, he DID say it.
And the first thought I had after he said was, “Oh, boy...we’re going to hear the race card played tomorrow!”
I was wrong. It didn’t take that long.
Limbaugh might not know the buzz words of the civil rights movment - but he’s NOT a racist. The folks who want to brand him that way are wrong...
No Rush never said ‘uppity’. I guess he’ll just have to play the clip tomorrow.
Limbaugh is completely wrong about this. They weren’t booing Michele Obama, they were booing Barack Obama. But I’m sure the media would like you to think they were booing Michele. That’s harder to defend.
“Since when is the word “uppity” racist? That is just dumb, frankly.”
It has a long history in the South—”uppity n****r”. It was an unfortunate choice of words by Limbaugh.
Up here in the north, there were two words you learned not to use” Uppity, and belligerent. Both of them would get you bitch-slapped on the bus.
On another thread I wondered aloud ... WHY would they book them at a NASCAR race? They had to anticipate that it might not go well...
...but knowing that ... it’s the perfect opportunity (and the left-wing bloggers are already in “high gear”) to say, “Those rednecks are so disrespectful! The first lady is there for the soldiers!”
I hope Rush does the same tomorrow.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
The 2012 democRat convention is going to be held in the shadow of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Oh...they played the clip on the NEWS tonight ... he said something like “uppity-ism”....but he did say it.
Moose-shell showing up at a NASCAR event and expecting love from the crowd was the equivalent of Jeff Foxworthy appearing at the Apollo or Harlem Uptown Comedy Club and telling his favorite “You might be a redneck” jokes.
He would have been boo’d off-stage, so he would never do that. You gotta know your audience babe.
Hey Mickey—next, why don’t you head down to Branson, MO and give lectures on healthy eating. You could open for Yo Ma Ma, the fiddle player, Yakov Smirnoff, the Baldknobbers and Andy Williams.
Moon Riverrrrr .....
