They may be the height of fashion but the health risks will bring you back down to earth with a bump.
Five-inch heels are becoming the most sought-after shoes on the high street as shoppers take their lead from celebrities such as Victoria Beckham.

High heels are a turn off for me, I don’t like them at all.

I, too, love the look of high heels. I used to wear them when I was younger, but at 44, I can barely stand to wear them. They mostly stay in my closet.

As often as not women dress for other women. Then they get po’ed at you because as a man you didn't notice the ‘amazing’ new earrings or belt, etc.

Well, it does seem the thin air at that altitude has an adverse effect on higher brain functions...

Apparently, in order to accommodate the higher heel, they have to add that extra thickness under the toe, which looks just plain clownish. There is such a thing as too much.

I read about a club in New York; it only lets in women on 4 inch heels or higher. It would be so much fun if a woman who has to wear orthotic shoes of some sort sued them for discrimination against people with disabilities.
In all my life I only found one pair of 4 inch heels I can wear, and it’s not terribly comfortable after an hour or so.

Five inch heels are too tall but three and maybe four are just fine. Some may think that heels make a woman look like a slut but they better watch a few episodes of "Cops" to get in touch with the real world outside of Las Vegas. Women going everywhere in slouch clothing with athletic shoes or flip-flops on fits the "crack ho" profile a lot more than heels do unless there's more than just the heels screaming, "ho".
In fact, the last time I saw someone soliciting that wasn't dressed like a total slob was back in the early 90s. Since then it's been all down hill as far as women's wardrobe whether they're a "ho" or not. I can't believe women work so hard to be unattractive these days, but there's no other explaination, they want to be unattractive and heels are only a small part of the issue.

This is just an old Moms opinion but I think when you get that tall a heel... you go from looking attractive to uh... shall we say... less than an honorable woman. Just my two cents worth. One of my female friends calls them Hooker Heels.

The Mail need a puff piece, eh?
As long as young and/or fashion conscious people have extra income they’ll go for the latest craze even if it’s stupid. Remember the 80’s and multiple ear piercings? Given all the bizarre piercing, tattooing and exposing various body parts, sagging pants and the like, 5” inch heals are the least of our worries when it comes to fashion dangers.
Young women will walk on their toes for a while and when they’ve twisted their ankles enough times, fallen or whatever they’ll go on to what’s next.

At higher altitudes and thinner air...I recommend/prefer Vasques. My old leather Vasques...hard to part company with, when you've gone through so much together.:) ;)
