Although scholars of the history of the NY Times Op-Ed pages may be able to find a more vile Op-Ed, I dare them.
From Paul Kane, a suggestion that the United States sell-out Taiwan to China in exchange for forgiveness of $1.14 trillion in debt, To Save Our Economy, Ditch Taiwan.

The IDF was and is active in Iraq. Taiwan also supported military action in Iraq. Neither were listed on the Coalition of the Willing for diplomatic reasons.

What do all the #s mean? Can it be explained in 65 pages or less?
Doesn’t the Senate have to ratify treaties?
We also know what kind of person would sell out the people of a free country to communists for cash.
Treaties? Who needs treaties in the era of Obama.
Honestly, I’d think the Taiwanese SS would have a concern for their national security unless they address the people writing this stuff at the NYT.
It means it is Federal law that the u.S. aid and support the defense of Taiwan.
Federal law that would require repealing before we could “turn over” Taiwan, which we can not do because we do not own Taiwan.
Of course this is all predicated on someone such as the dummy that is spouting this nonsense actually having the ability to understand those two highly complex issues.
Required to defend by existing Federal law.
Not “ours” to “turn over.”

Probably not...
.
Yet the Feds can't or won't even protect or secure it's own borders.
Magnificent bull sh*t.

No, that doesn't make the answer "no".
So the answer is no
