Okay, I am stumped. For the last 2 days, my e-mail started acting up and now it is doing it all day I cant log on to my e-mail when I get an error message, it says
Task "My e-mail addy"- Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] Incorrect username or password. (error 999)'
I cannot access my e-mail!!
it does work when accessed remotely
No smart alec MAC comments please
Talk nice. Buy it flowers.
I guess first thing is to make sure you didn’t accidentally hit caps lock and that would affect your login. Other than that, possibly you’ve been hacked and someone took over your e-mail account?

Have you added any software since your last positive access to your email?
Mine has been doing the same sporadically as well. I have two ISP’s and a domain hosting with another. I had been receiving e-mails regularly all day while on my air-card before shutting it down and heading to my office. When I got to my office I could not get to my e-mails for quite some time. The air-card and the office are the same ISP but different modems.
I have also been getting several notices through the evening on my home ISP’s connection.
I checked that, also, since I have the original settings on my account, only I can change them
I can access it remotely, too, no prob, it is on 2007 outlook, anyone hear of this?
B) Have you tried both just the user name, and also the full email address? (IE: kingu and kingu@someplace.net) - many providers have recently switched to requiring the full e-mail address.
C) If this is a work e-mail, is the POP port available on your company's network for access outside of the corporate network? Or do they require you use IMAP access?
I’d remove the accounts in your email program then go back and add them back in.
att, it uses a yahoo server
pop.att.yahoo.com
smtp.att.yahoo.com
the ports are the same 946 and 442 or somethign like that
ssl
I always had to use my full address with @att.net
Ya just gotta hank it.
Check to see if you have any recent updates on your
firewall. Could be prepping for the 11-9-11 EMERGENCY ACTIVATION. Ooooooo......
no, but, when using facebook on WND site, it likes to jump up and down the page and when the e-mail password box came up, I was typping in it before I knew it
I had to retype my user name and password many times, So, I went right to options and started over, it is like nothing is the same as I started, either!
I have not changed user names and passwords for years, so, it is not a memory thing
I know that I once had a problem retrieving comcast e-mail through outlook because they decided to change the SMTP/POP3 numbers without telling their customers. They wanted a more secure port (or something).
It took me forever to find the information so I could start getting my e-mail again. Do you have Comcast and is your outlook 2007 newly loaded and/or upgraded from an older version?
Forgot to add this was on two different computers and each’s firewalls are different.
If you’re on a wi-fi connection, check to make sure that you’re using the right connection, IOW, YOUR connection.
Also, I had a problem similar to that a couple of years ago, and it turned out that the date on my machine had changed and correcting it fixed the problem (don’t ask me why that was even the problem).
