I guess first thing is to make sure you didn’t accidentally hit caps lock and that would affect your login. Other than that, possibly you’ve been hacked and someone took over your e-mail account?

Have you added any software since your last positive access to your email?

Mine has been doing the same sporadically as well. I have two ISP’s and a domain hosting with another. I had been receiving e-mails regularly all day while on my air-card before shutting it down and heading to my office. When I got to my office I could not get to my e-mails for quite some time. The air-card and the office are the same ISP but different modems.

I have also been getting several notices through the evening on my home ISP’s connection.

A) What service provider are you retrieving e-mail from?
A1) Is it Yahoo.com?
A2) Do you have a plus account and is it still paid up on Yahoo?

B) Have you tried both just the user name, and also the full email address? (IE: kingu and kingu@someplace.net) - many providers have recently switched to requiring the full e-mail address.

C) If this is a work e-mail, is the POP port available on your company's network for access outside of the corporate network? Or do they require you use IMAP access?

I’d remove the accounts in your email program then go back and add them back in.

I know that I once had a problem retrieving comcast e-mail through outlook because they decided to change the SMTP/POP3 numbers without telling their customers. They wanted a more secure port (or something).

It took me forever to find the information so I could start getting my e-mail again. Do you have Comcast and is your outlook 2007 newly loaded and/or upgraded from an older version?

If you’re on a wi-fi connection, check to make sure that you’re using the right connection, IOW, YOUR connection.

Also, I had a problem similar to that a couple of years ago, and it turned out that the date on my machine had changed and correcting it fixed the problem (don’t ask me why that was even the problem).

Googling the error code returns a lot of hits. The top one mentions a fix in a service pack.

Try to log on to your email using your web browser and your isp’s home page. If you can log in via internet, that means your username/password are still working and the problem is with your email program (probably configuration).

If you still can’t log in, you should consider the possibility that someone hacked your account and changed your password. Ask the people in your contacts list if they’ve been getting spam from your account.

Either way, you’re probably looking at some phone time with your provider.

Good luck...

Have you tried to log in to your email directly from the web portal?

This has happened to me a few times. I am currently experiencing the problem in my outlook express acct. You have to reset your settings and I never write it down so I have to get the ATT help guys to walk me through it. Just go to the online tech people and they will help you with it.

IF you are still in (the area affected by the freak snow storm) your ISP might not be functional?

Cablevision has had numerous outages in North NJ, Hudson Valley NY and all over Ct from what I’ve heard.

I have had trouble like that with Outlook before. I know Outlook Express can have corruption problems. Not sure if the same thing happens with Outlook.

Try running the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\SCANPST.EXE file.
