Some members of a bankrupt Orange County, Calif. megachurch are expressing outrage after fielding an email request for congregants to deliver food to waiting limos so that it can ferried to the founder's sick wife. The appeal comes weeks after a lawsuit charged that the founder of the Crystal Cathedral house of worship, Rev. Robert Schuller, and his family had been paying themselves lavish salaries and other benefits while the church was in financial straits.
"They've completely depleted the church's funds," one member, Bob Canfield, told the Orange County Register. "But they have shown that they have absolutely no remorse for what they've done. They're still being chauffeured around in limos. We, the congregants, have nothing."
An email sent recently by Crystal Cathedral administrators said that Schuller and his wife, Arvella, "would appreciate meals over the next three to four weeks." It added: "They are to be sent to the church in order to be transported to Arvella. The limo drivers could pick up the dinners or meet in the Tower Lobby around 4:30 p.m."

I simply cannot wrap my head around that one. It does not compute.
Heretics do as heretics have always done.

I could name several that are phonies and are in it to milk the sheep but I'll just name one that particularly aggravates me - Joyce Meyers.
I've only seen her on television for short periods but I've read a ton about her and her family, all of which are on the pay roll with exorbitant salaries and mansions and private jets, all the while she is preaching the "prosperity gospel" to poor people to keep sending her money.
Crystal Cathedral and Schullers oozed slime the first time I ever saw them decades ago. The people who’ve fallen for this quasi-Christian tripe lack basic discernment, and have no right to “express outrage” now. They need to move on, cut their losses, and research cultism.
I useda watch Jim & Tammi and “Dr” Gene Scott (that’s how old I are!) They were all a riot.
Mean Gene! I miss him.

Garner Ted Armstrong, Tammy Faye and her sodomite husband, Oral Roberts, Haagis...the list is long. There were/are some passable ones, I’d count Billy Graham and Jerry Falwell among them.
I suppose the pastor doesn’t want the church members to see that thjey live a life of luxury.
Which begs the questions.
Why are they supporting the church and why are they still attending there?
What was dr gene known for?
Is that a trick question? I recall that he liked to ride his horse. He also fought the IRS. Saw him once getting out of an old Lincoln in Galveston.
Well, no. Just hadnt heard of the feller.
Growing up in Charlotte, we saw the Jim and Tammy Bakker story first hand.
Jim was well known to “cruise” for young men in his limo in Charlotte.
They would go on TV and cry big fake tears about the “ministry” going broke, con these old people into sending them money they didn’t have. Some even sent their jewelry. The next week on TV Tammi would be seen wearing the jewelry.
They were responsible for pushing me away from Christ for many years. I couldn’t believe God let them get away with the scams, and ripoffs. I was therefore convinced there couldn’t really be a God.
I firmly believe to this day that the PTL Club, Jimmy Swaggart, and the many like them are somewhat responsible for the way Christians are portrayed, and treated today in America.
Yep, that one suckered in my Grandmother/Mom/Uncle for many a years. Then when grandmother got cancer and they pushed her to not go to a doctor was the final straw. It was too late for grandmother, but the rest of us got out. I still as a child remember the Christmas fern we got to decorate, but had to hide when company came around.
I’m sad for her, but they aren’t “entitled” to anything.
I hate this kind of stuff.
