Strippers cash in on lonely oilmen
Forget Vegas. Strippers are discovering they can make ten times as much dancing in the oil boomtown of Williston, N.D.
Thousands of men have come here seeking high-paying jobs working for the oil companies. And, at the end of the day (or four or five days when they're working on a rig), many of them are looking for some female companionship at one of the town's two strip club's, Whispers or Heartbreakers.
Word has gotten out about just how much money can be made dancing in Williston's strip clubs. The money is phenomenal, but the competition is stiff.
Whispers has received applications from exotic dancers in Hawaii, Alaska, even the Czech Republic and Germany, said Melissa Slapnicka, the co-owner of the club. She's been bombarded with so many applications that she only gives each dancer a week to try out. If they don't work out, they don't come back, she said.
"We used to have to beg people to come, and now we have to turn them away because we don't have room for all the people who want to dance," she said. "My best girls would rather dance here than in Vegas, because they make more money here."

...at a very respectable medical practice in town. As she told me, once she completed her degree, she walked away from the "work"...
Just proves that some of those girls are smarter than the average bear.
Some people sell theirs for millions, others for $10. It’s always a bad, bad bargain they will regret later.
I agree. I always wonder about men who support strip clubs and think there is nothing wrong with them, how would they feel if their own sisters, wives, and daughters were to pursue such a “career”.
I would rather go to Australia. Mining is booming.
Same here. Dated a girl that stripped while going to college for her Master’s. She became a high school teacher but decided stripping made far more money. She ended up being a highly paid stripper in Vegas for a private firm. No hooking, just stripping.
Some gals can make $10K a week or more. Hard to resist that sort of earning power as long as it's legal. Ten years of that, and a woman would be set for life.
“Whoa! Hold on there hoss. I stated a simple fact not all strippers are prostitutes. From that, you seem to feel entitled to go off on me making all sorts of insinuations. Take a deep breath. Take a few.”
Phew...okay thanks, I feel better! Now, understand this...selling ones body can involve sex or simply sexual temptation. Stripping is not an art form...it is decadence and unhealthy for these young women who participate in it. Glorifying stripping in any sense is not a very compassionate thing to do. Now, take a deep breath yourself...open your heart up and contemplate...

As a recovering alcoholic and former bigtime fan of strip joints I can attest that in my case...once I got sober, I found strip joints as truly scum of the earth types of places. Anyone who says different is truly misguided. They cater on the illesses of young women who for the vast majority have suffered enough abuse growing up to have little self esteem, which is what it takes to be a stripper or a whore.
Probably tax free income too.
Stripping is really no different from outright prostitution. Selling the sexual use of one’s body is shameful and most women who do this feel great shame and guilt, and in order to continue their life, most become drug addicts.
And the men who so use them are contemptable. I don’t care if they are “upstanding” or “conservative”.
“I’m not an expert on the subject; but it seems to me that there’s some sort of sliding scale, between “art” dancing and flat-out pornographic stripping.”
I have been to dozens of strip joints, literally hundreds of times and I can tell you there is not much of a sliding scale...it is a dirty business that helps keep young women trapped in a very demeaning lifestyle. It is not something you would want your daughter to aspire to I am sure.
I had read a study on young women who are strippers and the horrors of the lifestyle. I was able to dig it up on a Google search:

I agree. Check out the study I linked to above.

Thanks, that may illuminate the subject for us...
