Let's suppose Cain wins the nomination. Do you think he's going to pal around with Palin on the campaign trail or pick her as VP?
The honest answer is "No". Cain would need independents and Palin has a lot of negatives, also, she's from Alaska, not a key state. The simple truth of the matter is Palin is no longer important as some think she is. And any candidate that latches on to her, or rather, let's Sarah latch on to them could quite possibly end up losing the independents. So, watch for the nominee to distance himself (whoever he might be) from Palin. The base would be with Cain, Palin could only drive potential voters away.
Again, if you think about this honestly, I think her time in the bright lights is coming to an end.
In full disclosure I was a big time Sarah fan, but no longer, Cain is my guy now and I'm not switching away from him.
Forbes in the way he is a successful businessman with a real world understanding of the private sector and the way that the economy works. Like Forbes in that he was from outside of the beltway. I supported Forbes in 1999 and would have no trouble supporting Cain in 2012.
Cain has a great story. My Forbes comparison was in no way meant to diminish it.
I think most people here like Cain and it seems Palin likes Cain. A long time ago she said she would run if no one else that she felt confident with were to emerge. Perhaps Cains surge is holding her back and if she thinks he can make it she will endorse him and not run. I hope not because I think her sunny demeanor will be a huge asset in the dark days of rebuilding this country. Her optimism and “can do” attitude will infect the populace and once that happens our country will be on the road to recovery. Herman Cain has many of these same attributes and together they could do great things.

Cheney did nothing wrong so I reject your “argument.” Bush was the president and he made the decisions—took full responsibility. I would expect Cain to have backbone and take responsibility for his decisions as well, no matter who his VP was. Only an insecure weakling would appoint less-qualified people to such high positions because they were afraid of being bullied into a wrong decision.

Until you came along, I was enjoying another "I really, really like Gov. Palin, but ....." thread.
I will back the best candidate when the time comes, and I pray that it is Sarah. There is an amazing amount of speculation going on...we are all political junkies. A great many people out there are just busy getting the kids settled in school, and working their butts off, just as Sarah is, I'm sure. She has some big events coming up and I feel she is wise enough to know when the time is right. If she wasn't that wise and “alley cat” smart, why would any of us be supporting her? I am convinced that the date Sarah chooses will give her to most impact.
I am sorry if I got a little touchy about the initial post, but I am sick to death of everyone else telling us what we should think and feel, etc. The establishment Republicans are doing absolutely everything they can to convince Sarah it is too late...bad polls and all. Remember, polls are for strippers. They are rigged to convey what they want them to convey, and to sway your thinking. Some polls show Sarah up, some down. They change almost every day. It also depends on who paid for the poll.
When and if Sarah decides not to run, I will live with that and probably back Cane at this point. Half the current campaigns will be gone within the next few months. I live in Kansas...the primary process is already over by the time we get to vote. The North and East coast states choose our candidate every single election. I am sick of it. Last time we got McCain, great choice, except that he introduced Sarah to America. McCain was the only choice by the time it got to Kansas.
I am 61 years young, and before I die or loose my mind, I would love to vote for a President that I truly can support in every way. I am extremely tired of the “lesser of two evils” vote.

Yes she has. She is exactly what the bloviators say the GOP primary roster needs: someone who tells it like it is [Christie, Cain]; someone who appeals to Independents and the middle class. someone who focuses on fiscal rather than social issues; someone who can appeal to gays, Latinos, women, and blacks; etc.

Cheney led Bush by the nose. He completely turned Bush from an opponent of nation building to the biggest proponent. Cheney appointed his own choices of cabinet members and larded it with The New American Century war in Iraq advocates [before 9/11 it was in their plan]. Cheney ruined the Bush presidency with his own agenda. Bush was not up to running a military policy and if Cain isn’t, he’ll be another Bush.
Sarah Palin never said ‘Shackle-y’. You have just taken that from headlines. She said shackling.

The liklihood of Palin being the nominee is about 30 times the liklihood of Cain getting it.
Also, Palin’s “negatives” are a mythical quality. Her support is broad, and excludes mostly a handful of GOP elitists and their mindless followers, and the traditional 18% that are radical socialists. Cain won’t get them either.
Answer this question honestly: why does every new “conservative hope”, as soon as (s)he makes the slightest “pop” in the polls, lead to that candidate’s supporters immediately asking “is this the end of Palin? She should just realize it’s all over and endorse my candidate.”?
That’s influence.
