"You seem to be bristling with defensiveness, and your recitation of her qualifications is a conflation of two separate issues..."

Apparently you forgot your own quote, which I re-posted at the top of my reply to you, and which my answer was in direct response to. You had made the (incorrect, I believe) assertion that her current newsworthiness derived from the "mystery" surrounding her status as a candidate.

My reply was that her newsworthiness began well before, and will continue long after, the 2012 elections. I also listed the inarguable justification for my position.

I apologize if you misunderstood why I replied the way I did... people, it seems, sometimes forget that the responses they engender are the direct result of statements they made. Or, they want to divert attention from their error. A popular tact is to accuse your debator of being "defensive" or some other subconsciously ginned-up obfuscation. Absent the melodrama, we call it "carrying on a discussion," and one need not feel defensive to want to enjoin. Nor did I.

There you are. As you were, then.

She jerking *me* around.

I just gave a bunch of money to Herman Cain. What if Miss-Johnny-Come-Lately finally decides to enter the race and becomes the instant frontrunner? That money is /gone/.

What if she doesn't enter the race? Should I not support another primary candidate because I'm waiting on her? And risk Romney gaining momentum over a true conservative?

Sure - she's not jerking around her supporters. I've seen from this forum that they'll fawn over her regardless. She's jerking around people like ME. There is NO WAY I'm risking getting another McLame this time around. I feel obligated to support true conservative candidates EARLY so candidates like Romney get knocked out of the race before it is too late.

So, yeah. If she's planning on running, she's f**king with me, potentially making me waste my money. Given the state of the economy, I don't appreciate anyone messing with my money.

And remember: her name recognition is both a positive and a negative. Apparently, you haven't been looking at the polls around what that name recognition /means/. Sure, some people *love* her. But an even higher percentage currently view her unfavorably. Even you *have* to admit that is a serious mountain to be climbed. Cain doesn't have that level of baggage. But he *does* need to get his name out there. Different negative, but one I'll take over starting out with a candidate people love to hate.

I hate to break this to you, but your donated money to Cain is gone whether or not she gets in.

But you’re just being ridiculous, we’re months from the first primary vote being cast. Is your standard that all candidates should declare as soon as the first one starts soliciting donations?

I understand your frustration with the McCain debacle in ‘08, but really if Palin is the best shot we have to take back the WH and the best strategy is for her to let the other candidates get vetted before she announces, can’t you just hold on a little longer?

Even once all the candidates are vetted, as much as I like Palin, my choice in the primary season is Cain - as it stands now.

If she jumps in and becomes so strong that Cain gets knocked out, I’ll likely jump on board the Palin train. Like I said - *I* like her. I’m extremely worried about the fact that a plurality *doesn’t*. Her unfavorable ratings are a serious hurdle.

A very, very serious hurdle.

But, if Palin does jump in, I’ll likely hold off donating to anyone for a few weeks to see how things play out. With no obviously pending announcement from her, it was time to start donating to other candidates.

Palin’s my candidate—but Cain might be my runner up at this point.

With Cain, it is truthful and accurate to cite "perceived" positives and negatives, as he has no record in elected office.

It is a disingenuous slap in the face, a kick in the uterus, to refer to the factual statements about Palin's unprecedented record as "perceived positives."

The nomenclature presumes to imply that she and he exist politically on the same plane, and within the same sphere of political experience.

That is the very depth of pure, steaming bullsh't. Palin has an actual record with over 20 years of proven elected executive performance, and it is unmatched in the pantheon of American Politics. She has two decades of making campaign promises about what she'll do if elected, and then exceeding every single one of them once in office.

Cain has only "perceived" positives, as he is, electorally speaking, an unknown. So save your fabricated horsecrap for the little kids who might be fooled by it, n'kay?

"Even you *have* to admit that is a serious mountain to be climbed."

That's not what this poll says. I suppose you know more about it than the 250-million Americans on Facebook, huh? Miss-Johnny-Come-Lately?

Now we KNOW you're confusing Sarah with L'il Hermie.

LMAO!!!!

To: Gargantua; All

I invite everyone to peruse Gargantua’s posting history.

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:gargantua/index?tab=comments;brevity=full;options=no-change

You will notice a few things:

1) He posts obsessively about Sarah Palin

2) He is involved in an inordinate number of flame wars. In fact, there are few threads where he is involved that it doesn’t devolve quickly into a flame war

3) His flame wars inevitably end with him immaturely insulting people and calling them names. Examples from just the first page of his history include:

* So save your fabricated horsecrap for the little kids who might be fooled by it, n’kay?

* Must you go through life posing (convincingly) as an enflamed ureter?

* Perch and rotate, goiter.

* Go stick to your Fruit-of-the-looms, fudgekin.

* They just posted the poll, sphincter.

* Why must you pretend to be an obtuse ignoramus?

* What a sad pack of losers

* just envisioning you nine imbeciles buying all the Maalox and Pepto Bismol in a three-State area.

* Oh, let’s see... the prediction that you’ll show up acting like a petulant, sour-grapes jackanape? How about the wager that your keyboard is moistened with your ignorant drool?

* I can’t wait for Jim Robinson to ZOT your lying ass.

* How do you continue to show your face when you’re so consistently proven to be so totally full of crap? You are pathetic.

* Drooler.

* You gotta stop sniffing glue...

* My guess is you couldn’t spell it.

* Still living rent-free in your overwrought microcephalic pea, I see. Kissy-huggins!

* But I’ll tell you what: next time you’re with someone else whose brain actually works, show this post to them and ask ‘em. Maybe they’ll point you in the right direction. Wouldn’t that be a nice change for you, huh?

* What happened, you run out of esvatol?

...and that’s just from the first page. Additional history just shows a continuous line of insults directed at Freepers. It’s actually quite sad to read. It truly shows the character of this “fine” member of our community.

Gargantua - here’s a hint. If you find yourself in flame wars with a lot of different people, it’s not because of them.

It’s you.

Wow! Dawn breaks over Marblehead. Did you figure that out all on your own, or did your strange "Uncle Pervis" help? You act as if I'm not one of the most-read FReepers alive.

But for the FRules, I could publish the list of private emails I get encouraging me, and patting me on the back for returning fire at the rabid Anti-Palin troll-orists. I have people who send me private emails directing me to posts where someone is badly in need of a verbal adjustment.

It's a gift. Seems I was born to it. Plus, I'm funny and good looking.

Or maybe just a blowhard ratbag who talks tough to compensate for his wee wee-wee.

Could go either way. Maybe a Facebook poll will shed some light.
